Ok guys I am new here. I have been in R/C since I was 11 years old and I am 43 now. My first car was a Radio Shack Golden Arrow. I could not afford a RC10. Many grass cuttings later I had a Clod Buster. The rest is history.
So I have started 2 new projects, a Halsey Build, and a Nix 91. I have been wanting a replica of Masami's 91 stealth car since I first seen it in Car Action magazine. My Halsey build is almost done and I am just starting on my 91 nix.
Any advice on where to get the rare stuff would be much appreciated. Like tires and wheels and, someone to paint the body.
to build a masami replica is going to take a unique set of very hard to find parts, if you want to build it authentically.
off the cuff, you need:
TH-1 yokomo wheel adapters
yokomo wheels
copper yokomo springs
yokomo white rod ends
yokomo white spring preload clips
the easiest of the parts above are either real th1 adapters or some replicas (there are a couple out there). they show up pretty much the most common of the parts.
shapeways for the preload clips and rear wheels not as strong and also very white(if you are already using nix parts, just add them to the coloring process)
you could approximate the rod ends with white rc10 shock ends
copper springs would be the toughest.....it is possible to copper plate at home, though i don't know if anyone has done it and note sure how close it would match.\
painted body-- there are painters out there that will do it, if you are good with black and green, mci makes decals I believe to replicate the paint job.
First of all I would like to warmly thank Jake and Nikki for their awesome research and very dedicated work and telented craftmanship that made this (and many others) build thread possible. Like mentioned earlier, you guys are costing...

That race was awesome where Kyle Reed took the win from Masami.
This is something I have wanted to do since seeing the pics of this car posted here. I have all the machines at my disposal to do this but never wanted to really take the dive. I have already started collecting the parts for this car and have...

I'm a bit in doubt, if I should use metric hardware (M3, M4 screws, 3mm hingepins) or US (4-40 and 3-32 and 1/8 hingepins).
US has more style an original look.
Metric is easier to find. And I would have some 3mm titanium rods for the hingepins,...
:D This is probably the best article I have in all my RCCA mag collection. Back in the day I remember reading about this RC10 and all the controversy around it. Then a few years later this article came out and I bumped into it in a book store. It...

Thank you for mentioning the RC10GX, I just spoke to Andrew at GP3D and have made my preorder, expectation is they are just weeks away from pushing these out. Super excited, since that article came out and I first saw that RC10 along side the YZ10 I...
Didn't see a thread started on this yet. Thanks to Andrew Cooke of Grand Prix 3D for making this dream build possible.

...oh interesting!
I have a B2 gearbox that I've used to therefore make at least a 'B2 compatible 2.4:1' casing! ;-)
This has the slightly larger diff gear than the original stealth, but smaller than the 2.6:1 type, and yes the bigger idler and...
I got a custom painted Masami body for my runner last year, but it was to nice to use, hence this build.
Purchased a Bezerk 89 masami kit as a start, I just need to find everything else as all I have are the alloy bulkheads and motor...

Made some old school home brew G10 fiberglass. Tried to make it transparent like the old associated fiberglass was. Does it look close? Cut out my front and rear shock towers.
Probably the one car I'd love to own which I dont know enough about. I vaguely understand the early Yoke's but I was wondering if Masami's 89' Worlds car is made up of standard Yoke items or have there been too many custom bits like his 2WD car to...

Looking good buddy, where did you get the arms from, are they available?
How's the 89 coming along now since your last post?
What uprights, bearings, and CVJ's are you using?
I'm waiting on delivery of my chassis, mounts set..
I just got my re-re RC10 Worlds car running and only bought it for nostalgic sake. I knew it would be a shelf queen and that's fine.
I would just love to convert it into a 89/91 Masami Stealth car because in my youth that was the pinnacle of RC...

I would spend hours and hours reading those old Tamiya rc/model catalogs.
I did the same. I still had a bunch of those catalogs until they were thrown out  recently when someone cleaned up and thought they were just old mailers. I don't...
