Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
I'm new to this group. Very nice build. I have this same car and it's been stored away for 27 years. I just pulled it out 2 nights ago and started cleaning it. I need a new body, and wing. Anyone have recommendations on where I can buy parts for this car?

Welcome Skaiend! It is great that you are helping to keep the classic Inferno''s alive.
You can get the body shell and decals from Marwan. I have used them for all of my cars so far, and they are great quality.

Generally eBay is a good source, but the best deals can usually be found in smaller, local second hand online markets or classifieds.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of the car during the restoration process!

Lexster, thank you for the info. I'm super pumped and have already ordered a body and decals. I will do as you suggest and start a fresh thread on my project.
Thanks again

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
I finally got my hands on this blue wing. It's a perfect match to the blue wheels. Although the body stiiiil isn't painted, I think I prefer it over the grey wing. Any thoughts?

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
I think it depends on how the body is being painted. Or would you prefer to paint the body based on the look of the car after chosing the color of the wing?

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
I finally mounted the blue wing and made a few other small changes. I am hoping to get a front cf brace to complete this car. I still can't decide on a paint theme and color.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
I added these gold anodized aluminum C-hubs to the front. I'm not sure who made them, but they are machined very nicely.
I had originally planned to install these blue aluminum pieces, but the fit is a little different, so I believe they are for a MP5/6. They could have been made to work, but it would have required some grinding, and I wasn't willing to do that. The blue would have matched well, but the gold is ok too.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
Very nice build! I sold my turbo inferno 10years and I really regret it now. I’ve been trying to find and restore one but they seem really rare and hard to find. Were they produced in a small number or just not considered collectible?

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
Can't speak for everyone here but my LHS was a mom&pop store around this time. Our local answer to this was that Kyosho was a very hard brand to become a distributor of. Once he worked around that and got stuff into the store they were So..Damn..Expensive! I only remember one person ever getting an 1/8 scale kyosho and he drove 2 hours to get to Clinton, Iowa so never seen it again. Ofna was big because of the price around me anyway.
Todd
P.S. I know its been said but killer build once again!
Peace and professionlism.....Kabunga signing off!!!

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
Beautiful Turbo Inferno build! Very refreshing to see it in a blue theme instead of the usual green wheels and wing!

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
Thanks so much. Yes, I agree about the blue. The blue and green is iconic with the Inferno, but not my favorite color combo.

Nice build. Turbo Inferno is a Classic one.
I make my own more Modern version of Turbo Inferno.
I use an Inferno MP7,5 as basis for my build. It will be a 2023 model of Turbo inferno.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Inferno - New Rebuild
You actually made a remake of Turbo Inferno - just like me. It looks great but I hope we get photos with the body on - finish painted. By the way - blue looks great.
With all that carbon you should maybe call your car Turbo Inferno professional?
