Tribute to the B-Team - '91 Detroit Worlds

Post by scr8p »

This one will take a little while, got a lot of parts to get for it. But here's what I got to get the ball rolling.

Awhile back I was talking to Brad and we got on the subject of an rc10 in the coverage of the '91 worlds that always intrigued me (pic to the bottom right).

He informed me that it was a front end given out to some of AE's B-team drivers, and that he still had his brother's original front clip.

RPM Worlds arms, truck nose, bulkhead, nose brace tubes and what looks to be a stock 10t steering bellcrank, and run in the long wheelbase position. Also, a front tower that resembles a Composite Craft Worlds tower.

Since I've never seen a complete car that someone actually raced there, I can't really do a replica. So my goal is to built one up as a tribute to those guys. It will also be a nice piece to sit alongside of my NIX91 stealth car when it's done.

So I guess the question is, did associated work with RPM for these parts, and then RPM released it as a kit? Very interesting.

stupid question. are the RPM worlds arms different in terms of length of the long arm AE arms? the RPM arms were used on RPM's chassis conversion right?

sorry ive been racing modern cars for to long and my memory is foggy. i ask as i just built a car to run with the modern buggies. you can see it in the rc10 buggy forum. i have rpm arms on that but they are 3 hole and the exact same length as the ae arms. i was thinking about trying this set up above to see if it helps with jumping.

sorry i didnt mean to hi jack your thread.

A good thread explaining the arm lengths:

I shouldn't be surprised that I haven't done anything with this thread in 3 years.  But, I have been accumulating some parts.

Sabula Tech scoopless Turbo Mirage

New Tekin 411p (installed in shelf queen, never used), new Airtronics receiver, nice used Airtronics 94737 servo, nice used matched 1700 cells i have to break down and make a side x side pack, nice used Reedy Ultra mod or a used Lightspeed mod. Now, if I want to use those cells with the labels outs, I can't really use the Reedy motor. The Lightspeed is one of my personal motors from back in the day and isn't nice enough to put in the car. I'm hoping to find a new Lightspeed mod because I want to do this car as if it was my actual car that I used at the race.

I wasn't sure how to phrase it, so I asked Brad:

They get free stuff, but aren't known on the national level. Capable of winning state or regional races, but not expected to make the mains at major events.

Or so.....

I'm still missing quite a few things like a rear bulkhead and shock tower, new white shock parts, some hinge pins and ball studs, front wheels, bearings and turnbuckles, etc. I also nave to send the chassis parts out for ano, but I'm trying to decide if I want to do any mods to the tub first.

Any updates on this build Scr8p?

Such a great car! I love the re-creation of past National / World’s winning cars
