Lol! Well, being slightly competitive, I'm aiming for her to NOT be able to catch the car. Pretty sure I'm only going to use this on a tennis court surface, and so I'm wondering about an older Touring Car, like a TC3, and putting a hot motor in it so I can really run circles around her.

Although I can't tell if this is a full kit or a dress up for another. I'm assuming it's the latter.

Are there any chinese touring car kits, like the WLToys buggy that you can also get parts for?

This guy sells some cool bodies for the WLToys 144001 and other 1:14-scale chassis, including this Mini Cooper. Price is certainly reasonable. The buggy also takes standard 12mm hex so adding many different kinds of wheels would be easy-peasy. In my build thread I linked earlier, I test-fitted HPI Vintage VTA wheels and they look great.

My personal opinion is a 1:10-scale on-road car & body is perhaps too large for your pit-bull. I realize it's a big dog with a big yap, but something a bit smaller might be more nimble and harder to catch, but easier to chomp down on when it inevitably DOES get caught.

So, my thinking is a broad, featureless body would help a car escape her teeth if she got up to it. Where she got my Rocky was on the wing and and cab, hooking a tooth through the side "window" . The touring car competition bodies seem pretty featureless if you omit the wing, or use something like a 370Z body. The short course truck bodies would probably work well. Also, saw the RJ speed and a larger chassis that looked like it would take 1/10 bodies car bodies.

Also saw that WLToys has a newer buggy that's longer than the 1440-something, that might be better for a grippier-speedier setup. Of course, it costs more.

Still mulling it over. All the options seem to be in the ballpark on cost, as far as I can tell.

Since you'll be subjecting this car to the whims of a pit bull, choose something that has excellent parts support. Vintage probably isn't the ideal choice, IMHO.

So, I pulled the trigger on an RJ Speed Spec 10. "Big Money" in RJ Speed terms, but it has a body shape I think is better for this, fits standard 1/10 scale bodies so I can replace it easily, is currently in production so parts are available, and has a basic rear suspension I'm hoping will help me duck and dodge. I'm not going to worry about staying spec-class legal, so going to put a brushless system in it with a little "heat", and let myself get ideas for mods, later.

In my thread about the Kyosho 240S, coxbros1 linked the Performa ESC the 240S is based on, so I might go with that, though if I can find another ESC with reverse, I'll consider it.

Whelp! The RJ SPeed didn't last long! LOL!

Had a bunch of issues and I don't think they can be resolved with this chassis, so I'm going to be thinking about another. Definitely need 4wd and tires with some kind of tread.

Thats a much smaller area than what I thought you had. You have no real room to turn without scrubbing off a lot of speed.

Yeah, I needed to be able to roll slowly and then "punch it" out from underneath her. But, the foam tires wouldn't let me do that, reliably. I used the traction compound, but either it was way too old (Paragon that's been in my pit box for about 30 years) or the foam just can't handle anything less than a perfectly clean and treated surface. Also, I had to tighten the diff a lot because this motor (Orion 10.5) would slip it pretty easily, and that made the diff pretty rough, so I'm sure that helped break the rear end loose.

Also, the braking is terrible on this Turnigy ESC. At the same time, the foam tires wouldn't let me brake a lot, anyway, without looping out and killing all my momentum. My rocky was slow, but the Duratrax Dirt Track tires hooked great on this court. I just didn't want it to get torn up.

So, I really need 4WD, a diff that'll handle power, and grippier tires.
