RC10GT - #7072 NIB Build - G.O.A.T.
G.O.A.T. - The 1998 Associated RC10GT Team Truck.
Fine Print: The date of the kit states 1993 from the label seal and instruction manuals. However, the kit contains catalogs and literature dated 1998. The title post has been corrected to reflect this.
This truck has been in the box for 23 years. I purchased it on Jan 2013 and started the build 8 years later. I collected many of the period correct upgrades available for it through out the years. Parts like Lundsford titanium hinge pins and turnbuckles, Associated carbon fiber front and rear shock towers, MIP clutch shoes, MIP ball bearing steering servo assembly, RPM ball end cups, RPM blue front and rear suspension arms and bumper, RRP steel clutch bell and spur gear setup, MIP 360 stinger nitro pipe, Paris turbo pipe, Duratrax 3 shoe flywheel setup, stainless steel hardware and aluminum gearbox brace.
Not all these upgrades will be used, but having collected them makes my choice of using them possible. I don't have to go searching for them when I decide to start my build.
This truck this came with all black parts, black shock towers and Pro-line tires/yellow wheels. My '94 GT which was a lower level kit came with all white parts, light fiberglass shock towers black arms, and associated tires with three piece wheels.
IT HAS BEGUN!!!
Update: Stealth tranny done.
Some upgrades:
Robinson Racing Products: Steel spur gear and clutch bell combo
Black RPM rear Bulkhead
Hot Racing aluminum blue anodized tranny brace on the right replaces the stock black one on the left.
Longer screws were needed because of the spacers.
Carbon Fiber rear shock tower and stainless steel hardware
Some progress
After installing the stock servo saver steering I had a change of heart and an upgrade part
The MIP ball bearing steering kit will get installed
I know you are wondering why one screw is protruding from the engine mount...Keep that in mind boys and girls, i will get back to that later
UPDATE 8/13/2021
The protruding screw gets a Duratrax fuel filter and mount placed on it.
.12 OS Silver Head Engine setup with large diameter flywheel, engine mounts and stock clutch shoes
The stock raw aluminum header and exhaust pipe was polished up with steel wool Brillo pads for that extra beauty detail. Check out the difference
Futaba Steering Servo
Fuataba Throttle/Brake servo and linkages
Perfect gear mesh
Fuel and pressure lines routed neatly
Shock parts readied for build
Not a single O-ring was hurt during the building of the shocks
Here is the body which was actually painted (no decals) when i got it but needed to be cut and trimmed. Romulus22 mentioned it looked like an Ivan Stewart truck...so with a little research i found a set of Ivan Stewart decals along with a RC10GT decal sheet and placed the order. I must say im totally happy with that theme. Thanks Todd for the suggestion!
The Ivan Stewart RC10GT race truck!
Hole for exhaust stinger
She is missing the rear wing which i will get to eventually, otherwise she is finished.

Thank buddy...i got to remember to take photos as i go along
I think i waited long enough to get her started. Any longer and the tires will dry rot, lol. Just have to decide what to keep original and what to upgrade.

New Pristine parts are always a joy to work with. hope you enjoy these next few photos.
The Hot Racing tranny brace was tricky as i had to search for longer than stock screws because of the spacers.
I was truly lucky my extra stainless steel screws arrived in the mail yesterday so that i was able to make some progress.

Great looking build so far. So clean and sharp. I love the vintage upgrades as well.

Re: RC10GT - #7072 NIB Build - G.O.A.T.
Thanks man! Im so glad i collected them years ago for this build.
I checked out you Gallery and you have a very nice truck collection. It took me back to that time period. Love the JRXT as that was my first RC truck. The RC10Ts are just beautiful to look at.
