I recently bought a used OS engine off eBay that I wanted the rare parts from, namely the head. There didn't seem to be a mark on it. That was until I got it, and the head has a mark in the one place none of the pictures showed. It has nothing to do with the seller as it just happened that way. It has everything to do with my poor luck. It does have a unique aluminum muffler, and machined carburetor I've never seen before.
Anyway, I rarely buy well used stuff off eBay as I'm never happy with the result. This time was no exception.
Not everyone is like that. I've been selling on Ebay for 13+ years and 3000 transactions. I take highly detailed photos of flaws and even make sure to describe them and use something like a pointer in the picture. I've been burned just as many times on FB marketplace in all the groups we all probably belong to. Just seems there are more people these days who think it's normal to deceive and lie (societal issue). Or the ones who bid it up and don't pay. Block them and move on but frustrating how many more there are each year. I've had more of those in the 2 years than the prior 12.
At this point if the pics are not super clear I don't bother.
If its mentioned in the ad than fine. But 99 out of 100 times this is not the case. You have a good point if you just want a part to use for 3d printing or reproduction. As for the prior comment of a "shelf queen" being a rc that glued together parts are acceptable because it won't be used is just simply ridiculous and "shelf queen" (just like a restored car) is simply that a "restored rc" not some taped and glued together "janky mobile".

It's not my interpretation of shelf queen either but I've seen more than a few YouTubers that describe how this or that part had to be carefully glued together or ball diffs that are shot but "it's OK as it's a shelf queen" , it would make my brain itch knowing that one of my cars had a major fault even if it's going to spend the rest of it's days just looking pretty.
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.

I might have a problem. I seen this scrap pile on the bay for $100 or best offer. I made an offer and they took it. The transmission and shocks are probably worth more than I paid for all of it.
Instead of throwing away these wheels I took off one of my runners that was beat up pretty badly I decided to give them a second chance. I started by stripping the chrome, fixing the cracks with bond, sanded everything down smooth, then hit them...

Nice job on that looks nearly new.
I have much more enjoyment getting a terrible looking piece to look nice than opening a new in package part.
Thanks man I really appreciate that and I love bringing old forgotten cars and parts back to life!
my buddy grumbles just got a rc10t4.1... first thing, he opens the box and saw the body was a little bit smashed up in the front.. not that big of a deal but it is a new truck so it kinda stinks but hes a good sport...today he takes it out for his...

Thanks guys. Interesting information on the B2. I knew it shared many of the same parts with the B3. Like someone else pointed out, I always assumed the B3 came out so quickly after the B2 because of performance, but I guess my assumption was wrong...
Instead of starting numerous threads, I'll just put everything in here and add to it as I have time or get updated pics.
I have fairly nice digital cameras, but not a lot of photography skills. I understand most of the basic theory, but I have a...

I love it! Mildly reminds me of a Tamiya of sorts. Did you also increase the front kickup? The front brace looks a little short. How did you decide to use the mixture of parts that you did?
Kickup is the same as far as I can remember. I see that I...
I kind of posted a little bit about this in another thread.
Although I do love opening a brand new rc and seeing it in all its shiney glory then taking it ,out running it, breaking it in, and pretty much beating it up. Or back when most of them...

To answer the thread title, YES I am happy with junk!
My brand new Traxxas Slash is fun and reliable, but unless it's broken and I am fixing it, it seems boring to me now...
I got a new Associated B4.2 RS RTR and my boy got a new associated T4.2 RS RTR.
My boy's truck will go in reveres most of the time but not all and my buggie will not go in reveres at all.
Are these radios junk, should I look into something else?...

You may need to play with trims, or adjust neutral range.
There's nothing wrong with the XP2 or XP3 2.4 GHz systems, they're actually pretty decent for RTR stuff. Certainly not as good as a Futaba or Airtronics, but not bad.
What is the best way to get this white residue stuff off of my vintage tires that were newly liberated from their original packaging?

To get rid of mold release agent, spray Simple Green and scrub with a vegetable brush. Rinse, and give a nice light coat of WD-40, then wipe off... they'll look better than new.
