Got some Alclad II Chrome for Lexan to try on this project.
Image

Tamiya X-11 brush paint is what is currently on the body.
Image

The back of the Alclad Chrome can says: 4. Back Chrome with Water Based black.
Image

Didn't think Tamiya PS-5 was water based, so I tried it first on a scrap behind the Alclad.
Image

The PS-5 didn't bubble or discolor the Alclad.
Image

Not sure I like the Alclad better than X-11.

Need to figure this out. Thinking about leaving the grills X-11, and making the bumpers Alclad.

Have you considered using chrome foil (applied to the outside) rather than paint?
Granted, foil isn't as durable as paint but it should be fine for display.
I've used it a number of times.

That's what the movie car has, hobby grade foil on car #1:

Foil is delicate though, and after a while, might look more like old tin foil:

Want to make this a shelf body that will last, and that can go in the sink for a quick dust off. :D

Got the Sharpie Metallic Silver pen, going to draw the window frames on the outside of the body.

Looks like that's the way the movie car was too.

The movie car body is a Parma 63 vette #10218, the body I am using is a Bolink BL2254 63 CV Coupe, so it will be a bit different. If Parma decides to reissue their body, I'll get one and do this exactly like the movie car.

Was able to severely bend that Alclad chrome backed PS-5 scrap, without any separation or damage to the paint.

Going to leave the other body with the X-11 on it, and start over on this new body using exclusively Alclad. Going to be a lot of masking work, but this should be the most durable, and last.

Would like to paint the window trim in Alcald on the inside too, but not sure how possible that would be yet.
