TRX-1-3 wrote: Thu May 23, 2024 9:29 pm There is/was? a NIP clear gear cover on the bay recently. What I thought to be reasonably priced. Might still be up for grabs. But, I bet you scour near daily for gems. I just remember you preferring the lexan covers. Almost PM'd you the link about 4 days ago when I saw it. Almost.
Thanks pal, just bought it. $20 is the best price I've seen yet for a #1988 clear cover. The previous two I got were $40 each, which ain't too bad either.

Holy smokes, Mike!

A few parts from FanRC for a couple future builds arrived yesterday.
Everything looks nice; those shocks are impressive!. We'll see how they build but the parts certainly look high quality.

Jeff hooked me up with some awesome front shock tower options for my Hyper Hornet. Super fast cutting and delivery! His USPS guy must have a soft spot for RC parts. 😁

I had been speaking with this semi-local (3 hours away) person about their Scorcher on FBMP for a little bit, but we couldn't work out the logistics of a pickup. After some time, they offered to ship it for less than gas would have cost, but then I don't get to road trip! I told them I would think about it. About three weeks later, I started into a build of a roller SRB I had bought awhile back (based on me thinking about the one 3 hours away), and I fell in love with the SRB chassis! As soon as I got to a stopping point on the one I was working on, I contacted the person again and told them to get it shipped. This thing is cooler than I thought! Now, I can try to make one 90+% original, and then make one with some more liberties.

A nice group of motors showed up. I'm most excited about the Race Prep. The can and endbell are both unique. I have no other motors like this.

I'm not a RP expert, but they typically have "Racing Motors" on the label instead of the "Performance" for their other offerings. Can should have AYK or Race Prep on it, and that endbell is really odd looking. It's possible that you have a frankenprep.

With the engraving seemingly being under the label, and the label looking pretty fresh for an old motor I'd be leery. I have one of those motors with that brush hood arrangement and can't recall who made them. Don't see them often though

The label has been on for a little while. The top clear on the end was separated and a little dirty. I cleaned and repaired the separation. It probably is a replacement, but it's not a new MCI replacement label.

It's an odd motor. Bushings, not bearings but comes apart like a modified. The brush hoods look like I've seen them somewhere before but not sure where. Cast aluminum and there a screws on the underside of the spring posts It has an old motor aura about it. Insulation on the capacitor leads and 4 pin Deans. The brushes have a recess for the spring. No questioning which way is up. I'm almost tempted to remove the label to see the engraving, but I'm not quite there.

Well, mine ended up being Aristocraft and the brush hoods are similar but different as mine are not directional.

I'm definitely not a Race Prep expert either. It might well be a frankenprep. It's not an original motor label. It's had a Race Prep 'Performance Accessories' label applied to the can. I don't mind a motor that's had some tinkering and I didn't pay much for it.

I didn't particularly need these but the price was too good to pass up.

Big thanks to TRX-1-3 for pointing me to this #1988 gear cover.

And while searching for a R203GF receiver, stumbled across a "buy one, get one half off with a free 3PRKA transmitter" deal.

I've been looking for a Parma modified with their weird can and endbell. Valkyrie RC had one and accepted a reasonable price. Now I can quit looking for Parma motors. 😁
