RPM Ultra Molded RC10
After wanting one of these as a kid 30+ years ago after seeing the magazine ad, I was finally able to build an Ultra Molded buggy. Just added a few period mods but nothing too crazy.
I was so tempted to add some stickers to this blank canvas, but it looks just too good to cover up.
- MIP CVD's
- Litesink motor plate
- Tecnacraft turnbuckles
- Robinson Racing 18-degree kingpin/castor blocks
- See's aluminum wheels with AE TQ-20/TQ-70 tires

Holy Molded ! Beauty
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Sooo clean, definitely a museum piece. I love it! Bitd, I remember when I installed new white rpm arms on an rc10t right after rebuilding the transmission and leaving dark smudges all over the arms, ofcourse that stain the surface of the plastic forever, due to not cleaning my hands first. Boy was I bummed.....
Old school racing all the way!

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Very nice build. Looks great. Will you be adding electronics?

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Sweet build. I'd remove the rear motor guard if I was using a Litesink though since they are meant for a flat chassis.

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Probably not. I tried a few ideas with both Novak and Tekin gear, but I think it looks so good without any electronics. I have slightly rebuilt it into a carpet oval buggy like I always wanted to build as a kid and added a BIG JIM Master Stock motor.

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
A clear Cirrus servo would look good in it.

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Black Tekin TSC and receiver with black servo should look good too. Or all orange Novak ESC/Rx/servo set

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Forgot to post the updated pics. I added a few shock spacers, HPI green-dot mounted foams, Barracuda slipper eliminator, BIG JIM Master Stock and some Maxcell P-170's to make this the perfect carpet oval buggy.

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Does that slipper eliminator still need a top shaft nut to hold it on, or is there a set screw?

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
Mine had a set screw, but I added an aluminum spacer and nut to keep it secure. The set screw was also a pain to get to.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:41 pm Does that slipper eliminator still need a top shaft nut to hold it on, or is there a set screw?

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
It has a set screw, possibly two if I remember right. You can just barely get a driver on it between the motor plate and tranny case if you're not running a felt gasket...you can sort of see it in the top-down photo. You could add a spacer and nut but I like to live dangerously.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:41 pm Does that slipper eliminator still need a top shaft nut to hold it on, or is there a set screw?

Re: RPM Ultra Molded RC10
I love it. The low stance looks great and the classic 5 star wheels fit perfectly.
