Ironically, I usually start with old RCCA magazines, then instruction manuals, last is heavy googling for any site with info on the more obscure models... though, sometimes I cheat and read the ads. :)
RC10th wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2024 8:08 am I may not comment on all of them but I enjoy the posts. Before and afters would be cool but maybe put them in a seperate Dangeruss photo restoration type thread even though it's kind of a double up?
Totally understand on not commenting on all of them. Like a car show, some cars you like, other cars you like enough to say something. I'd wondered about a photo thread too but seemed like double posting to me as well. Maybe a single, smaller image, diagonally split showing the before/after, worst offenders of the bunch sort of thing, could be cool...

But... I've got some REALLY awesome later ads  ...jokes aside, I've been of the same mindset, cutting the ads off around 2000.

Really appreciate ya'lls kind words. I'll keep including the ad info and if anyone has any thoughts or opinions (good or bad) let me know, I'd be happy to hear it.

TBH, I'm sure its appreciated way more than most will actually put into words on a forum. I look through every one of them and with my limited time I get to get here anymore I'm sure there are others that reminisce like I do. Thanx for cutting off around the Y2K mark as it gets a little more tricky along the attention to things for this new century...as stupid as that sounds.

sure beats looking through the years of musty magazines I have sitting here, and there, and over there, and out in the garage to find some of the things I've looked at. 8)

Funny how the silent majority thing works. Some of the coolest stuff never gets spoken about... just stared at in awe. Reminiscing on the ads is just about one of the best parts, later stuff is cool but 00's-10's isn't needed when there's so much 80's-90's awesomeness to come.

There is a certain amount of gratification in being able to look at an ad you want to see without having to ask "Ok, now WHICH stack is this ad gonna be in??" 8)

The AE full-page spreads were awe inspiring as an impressionable youngster.

I have always suspected the folks on this board are like the folks in the museum staring intently at an exhibit, not just wandering about as if in a grocery store.

I could see that... kinda like the Museum scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off... but with RC cars...

Copper power wires in steel springs and humid air in the AC unit air handler. What could possibly go wrong with that? I probably should replace the new wire nuts with some sealant wire nuts, or at least caulk the openings.

Yea, which I would think would make it easier for me, but I truly suck at decals!

My Eek was actually in reference to a semi-hidden part of the pic. One that looks really uncomfortable!

Is anyone familiar with Jeffery Racing Concepts? What little I know about them gives me a Custom Works dirt racing vibe but I really don't know much about them. Did they make any vehicles? Or are they an aftermarket parts maker?

Picked up a little local deal at lunch time today. I'm referring to it as BBNR (built but never ran). I don't know if that acronym is a thing, but I buy quite a few rigs in that condition, so I am going with it. It is a 1st gen TA02 F150. He even threw in 3 unopened cans of Tami paint, which are worth about 25% of what I paid for the whole thing! :D I am very often 2nd to respond on local FBMP deals, so it is a bit rewarding when you get to one first.

Maybe Amain didn't pick the best package pic to use for this advertising? :)

Circa early '00s I had three 10" MTX Blue Thunder subs in a single trapezoid shaped box which fit in the trunk of my '89 Mustang notchback perfectly through the rear seats. This pictured looks very similar to what I had. I want to get it just for the heck of it, but have no need for them.
