Jrxt wheels

Post by bigmd »

Gonna be restoring a JRXT and am finding that wheels are hard to come by. What other wheels can be fitted , vintage or modern? Also where can I find 2.2 wheel covers ?

Same boat as you; OE correctness didn't matter to me.
I sourced A&L truck wheels with AE bearing adapters for tamiya sized bearings. (I don't know the AE PN off hand)
The 5mm front axles for JRXT aren't available otherwise that would make it a bolt on without the bearing adapters.

I did the same for my Storm 2000- A&L wheels and non-standard sized bearings to fit the axles.

Good call…I was told about taking a M4 nut and re-tapping to 8-32(whatever axle thread is) to handle that. The recess for the nut isn’t overly spacious.

I don’t have this all together on mine yet but with the AE bearing reducers (6862) in these wheels it allows for the 3/16x5/16 flanged bearing to work; shim to suit.

So in my research of the A&L wheels , they sold a special wheel nut for them to use with Losi axles. Part #5062. I purchased a set off eBay . Looks to be one more NOS and also Factory Works reproduces them and has them on eBay .

Sorry I didn't see you guys were talking A&L, Factory Works is a continuation of A&L. The wheel nuts and wheels we sell are not reproductions, they are originals with new header cards. The wheel nuts are listed here for far less than eBay https://factoryworks.com/shop/ols/products/5062

The rears do require the special nuts. The fronts were a metric bearing wheel and thus require a change either in the axle or the bearing adapter as mentioned above. When doing the axle, some companies made them for Tamiya wheels which are super wide between the bearings. For those, our wheels came with red spacers. If using our own axles, or buggy length Tamiya adapter front axles you don't use the red spacer. If using the stock bearings with AE or rpm wheel bearing adapters, you also don't need the red spacers. Lots of ways to skin that cat. As far as wheels go, we only have blue rears https://factoryworks.com/shop/ols/products/5054b and white fronts https://factoryworks.com/shop/ols/products/5050 left. They will take dye well however.

Sorry, I didn’t realize. Paid a bit more for the eBay wheels and nuts. I bought a bunch of stuff from you guys for my Ultima. I didn’t know you sold the wheels . I’ve also decided to for the bearing adapter for the fronts . Will it be ridiculously wide up front ? Thanks for the info.

no, the adapters do the same thing as the axles, just in a different way
