Running a JRXT after nearly 20 years.

Well, thanks to some kind people here ( you know who you are), I was able to get a JRXT running for the Rock Crawling Competition this last weekend. I was really rushed as I had to scrounge for parts. But, she was a go on Friday night before I left the next day.

Matched Panasonic Pushed cells
Futaba radio gear

All I was missing was a battery hold down. So I just zip tied the batteries to the chassis. I used an old body I won off of the bay as well. All I can say is I have not driven a T in about 20 years!!! I was immediately brought back to my childhood and the fun of my first truck. My buddy at the comp is a Losi Team Driver and he about lost it when I pulled the T out of my Jeep. Needless to say I let him drive it.

Speaking of driving, I forgot how loose these things were. Sure I didn't tune it for where I was, but the thing was like a motor with wheels and that is it. But I had a great time, took 3rd in the comp on Sunday. First time I ever placed in the top five.

What are they? I have no idea and no-one else does. I have looked all over for a manufacturer. Don't need to buy any, just curious as to what they are.

I honestly cant recall. We used to race on a really muddy track (some guys like to spray water on it before the races) and they worked fairly well.

I had a set on my Lunch box, they were made by Duratrax and I think Imex made them to, the ones I had came in a Duratrax display for the hobby shop I worked at. Your T looks great. I want to run mine but I spent way to much time cleaning it up, so I am builting another one to run, its almost finisned.

The third picture had me going for a moment, in the day pose sitting under the hood...thought that was a charge cord hooked up.

First time I ever used those tires they came in a JG bag. I have seen Imex and Duratrax with them also. Loved them in mod truck dirt oval, nothing like a 13X3 Twister in a blackfoot....

A JRXT in a rock crawling contest,I love it
I think I might convert my beater-built-from-spare-parts JRX2 into a JRXT.
Stadium trucks are a whole lot of fun,I bought a Duratrax Evader ST Pro as a complete runner and gave it to a friend who was a bit down and out for Christmas,last year.
He loves it,he's driven my JRXS and a few of my buggies,but wants to stick with the truck 'cause he finds it so much fun to drive.

I LOVE those engines,so easy to work on and get running hard,once you get past the crappy exhaust ports.
I have a 302 that's making 400BHP in a '73 Ford (Mercury in the States) Capri that weighs 950 kg's.
Nothing beats releasing the trans brake at 4500rpm and lifting the front wheels at traffic lights !

That was my buddies car. I drive a Jeep. I was just charging it real quick. We talked about it though. He has 176,000 on it all original and it runs great.

Well, like back then they only lasted for about 6-8 minutes. Believe me, I was shocked that they even ran. Seriously fun though.

Um I am not sure about that "wide" motor question. Sorry, all I know is that it is part of the Mr. Series. I used to run it in my Cougar 2 Works. But in the T it ran really fast. I was almost keeping up with my buddies Traxxas Slashes. They were running 4700 Mambas and lipo too!!!!

Update:

12/31/08 - 15 degrees outside.

Setting - parking lot at work.

Reason - showing my friend the Vintage ride.

Incident - hitting a curb after the RX glitched.

Carnage - by by front a-arm.

Result - priceless.

2/20/08 - 40 degrees outside.

Setting - parking lot at work/makeshift track.

Reason - running against a RC10 T3 at work.

Incident - hitting a RC10 T3 at about full throttle head on.

Carnage - by by front a-arm, again!

Result - priceless.

So, I am back where I was last time and need another set of a-arms. Does anyone have any they can let go of?
