Regarding the belt tension, is the rear okay? The later works cars had slotted holes for the motor mount to adjust the tension on the front belt. If the tension is fine on the rear you could slot the rear bulkhead holes and use the fixed spacers as employed on the works cars.

Re visiting the belt tension issue: Be careful of the center shaft developing a bend. Ive read its a problem, and 1 of mine actually had a slight bend,, and it had a tight belt. Was a car that had been stored that way after getting broken,, very low run time....Anyway, I have several belts..

I still don't know if I can get past the narrow fronts. I may swap over to a 4wd front but I haven't found a matching set of rears for my 4wd fronts yet.

I also removed the jammin brace and shortened it about 1.5mm. The belt is now loose enough but the tensioner is still a "no". That's why it's on the wrong side of the belt in the pic

Lot of the UK cars ran the very narrow rims and Shumacher fronts (including the Euro's if I recall) so that isn't very "American" but those cars were very worldly anyhow. Those rear tires are redunculious though

Placeholders....I prefer to think of them as placeholders.

The car had the 2wd narrow fronts when I got it and i wasn't crazy about the look then either.

I really like the super narrow fronts! What would match as rears? Something slightly narrower than regular rears? I bought some duratrax super narrow front tires from mrlexan just for the awsome cool yok narrow front rims. Now,, to find matching rear tires...

The fronts I have and would like to match are Imex with no name on them. They look like a Schuey cat tire, aggressive pins. There are some Schuey on eBay I may just snag a set. I have Imex rims for this that will look great with the 870c body

Ive got those same tires I think. Are they 2.1 rim fit? Also,, are the beads inside really wide, and really close together? Ive got some that look just like that,, got that little step in the middle but they dont fit any rims I have.

Heres my version of yokomo supernarrow.

I have a pair of rears I got a hold of.. They have lettering that says RP-925 on the side wall.. I was going to use them for my shuey fronts until I found some rears (which I did recently) now they will probably go on something sooner or later.. 8)

Nice.. I say go with the Proline wheels.. I was looking to get a set myself but I have too many Yoke wheels now.. Let's see what I have: 2 sets of Trinity wheels in orange and yellow, narrow fronts and standard rear YZ10 wheels in white, mismatched pink stock fronts and Trinity pink rears, set of 2.1's in white with TR-32 tires (looking for fronts), pair of 2.1's in white 4-hole with losi x-pattern tires, 2 sets of after market 2.2's (Amark - From Germany), 2 sets full of shuey tires, 3 pairs of shuey mini spikes rear ( the really low profile ones), these tires I posted and narrow spikes of unknown origin and this is for 3 yokes and only one built and that has new pink stock wheels with Avante tires.. Damn my wheel/tire fetish!! I keep buying tires to make matching sets.. It never ends.. Oh well.. I just need to get more cars to put these tires on then..

Glad you sorted out your belt issue even if it is only a bit.. Do you still need the battery bars?? I have a set you can borrow to make a template.. The corners have been rounded off and are not squared like the originals though.. I also have the Works 93 battery hold downs you can borrow as well and if you want I also have a Works 93 chassis that has a "modified hole" if you want to copy it as well.. Unfortunately my Works 93 top deck I have is broken as well as the shock towers and steering brace but if you can make templates for these let me know..

Love your 870C.. Looks amazing.. 8)
