I think these are the ones in scr8p's picture. the shape is just a little off, but they are #4 tierod with #2 ball so they would be accurate in that respect but the shape does look slightly off.

Not sure if they are exact, but Servo City has them cheap.
Regular: http://www.servocity.com/html/4-40x3_16__standard.html
Heavy duty: http://www.servocity.com/html/4-40x1_4__heavy_duty.html

I love Heim-style joints, but ball cups usually have more travel, are cheaper, and stay cleaner.

Thanks for the help guys, I had barely ordered a stash of screws from Tower that I saw the link to those Custom Works :( At least I ordered the white Dubro ball cups. Anyway, I'm far from being done and ready to attach the turnbuckles to my chassis so I'll try to find them later on. Made some progress on other fronts today, mainly locating a SRB driver figure and polishing one rear shock and assembling it back together, note the use of early design shock pistons with a slot and no holes. Stay tuned!

Really cool. I'm watching this thread..as I may be able to help you out, as I'm looking forward to a rebuilding mine.
..they're shaped a little different though.
. I have a few of the older style with the squared off edges, but they are all really pretty used. If you look long enough, (and get a bit lucky), find an old CRP "Heavy Duty Steering Kit" for anything early to mid 80's, (Frog/Brat, SRB, Grasshopper/Hornet, Scorpion/Tomahawk, maybe Fox, etc) you'll have the real deal. They've probably always been Dubro (CRP simply repackaged them with some nuts/bolts and 4-40 rod), but somewhere along the way they made 'em a bit broader with the rounder edge.

The receiver is Airtronics (you can barely make out the NICS at the end). A big sucker though! Don't forget about the funky antenna base too

PM sent re the Rough Rider Driver etc.

Brian, many thanks for the enlightment about these heavy duty steering linkage, I'll keep an eye open for those old CRP steering kits. In the mean time, I'll be happy with the Custom Works ones. Here are the missing bits and bobs for the moment:

- Airtronics receiver
- antenna mount (can someone identify what it exactly made out of?)
- rear shock tower (I am still looking for someone who could cut one for me and will try to obtain a trace from an old member here that was almost done with his box art replica, unfortunately I don't remeber his name/pseudo, :) )
- kick-up drilling and milling
- correct 7-cells battery
- gold anodising the front shock collars (any help would be appreciated here as well)
- window netting
- box art sticker sheet
- painting the body

The only detail I will probably not replicate is the no hole motor plate as this is totally beyond my capacities...

Still a very long way to go as you can see!

EDIT: I found the web page of liquorboxracing, here it is: http://www.gassaninedesigns.com/id55.htm , he was sooooo close to be done!

I threw in a couple packages of white Dubro rod ends along with the sway bar. I thought you might be needing them.

The package went out on Tuesday so it may be a while before you receive it. If you lived on this side of the world you probably would have them already!

Also wanted to mention, lucky for you, I don't do paypal. It will not be necessary to pay for shipping. Its on me. We are a small group of people and we should help each other out at any cost.

I hope you enjoy the parts!

I don't know how to thank you mate, really cool! I guess I'll be able to help you out the same way soon.

It might not be so easy to get the black rod ends. I found my crp kit, but the ends look just like the ones pictured above, and just like ones I recently bought for my lunchbox.

Today I received the parts that were machined by Fybre-Lite and I must say (again) these guys really do an awesome job.
Many thanks to Ruffy for drawing the CAD designs and to Joe (jwscab) for helping me to find the right G10 plate. I have now all the parts to start assembling this project after 3 years of collecting. Stay tuned!

Looking forward to your build, and you are welcome for the CAD work I did for you. Figured I could contribute to your build in this way.

Really busy these days, but finally managed to score a sweet Airtronics RX that almost look like the one on the box art car. The ref number is slightly different and I wonder what is underneath the stickers but can't bring myself to take it off. I still need to arrange a few details before starting this one. I really hope to begin the build before I get the box art painted body. Stay tuned!
