Traxxas is a good one too. I would prefer a TRX-3. But if you want earlier, maybe a Bullet or RAD buggy?

I have always thought of traxxas as an also ran. They just don't have the same cache as others like associated, Losi, schumacher and others have.

Kyosho Triumph. A favourite of mine with it's Graphite (or F.R.P. depending which country you bought the car) Upper and Lower Chassis and Twin Belt Drive. A nice car for any collection.

Re: What other 2WD do I need?
Surely the early race buggies from AYK like the Sidewinder, Buffalo/Bobcat/Boxer more than rate a mention, as do Kyosho's Scorpions and Tomahawk, later the Triumph too. As much as it pains me to say it - even the Tamya Dynastorm when set up properly could complete....
These cars were the forefathers to the modern buggies you have already....would make a great "evolutionary" collection!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm - thats a damned good theme that - 2wd evolution!
Cheers

Re: What other 2WD do I need?
Thank you for the ideas, I will have a look into all of them, the Traxxas TRX-1 and Kyosho Scorpion have the most appeal to me at the moment.

I believe you NEED a Mardave Meteor. Thankfully you are in luck and I have one to sell!

It's yours for £60 including everything seen in the pics, which you could probably sell and get your money back! With the Lexan shell you could easily restore it into the racing version.

Re: What other 2WD do I need?
I do think if it were not for Mardave many people/children would not have been able to enter the world of RC cars which for many make them an iconic brand, so thanks for the offer and suggestion Dr. Robotnik but not quite what I had in mindDr. Robotnik wrote:I believe you NEED a Mardave Meteor. I see you've got a Schumacher Top Cat but there was a 2wd before that car.The Cat XL was available in 2wd. It was just like a 4wd but without a front pulley or drive shafts.

Re: What other 2WD do I need?
This is a fun tread which kept me thinking a bit.
If I were to buy vintage Tamiya's I'd say the Fox as it was the closest competition level in
our club, till the RC10's and spare parts for them became easily available.
The wild-one would be nice too: the last of Tamiyas full-out trailing arm buggies.
I wouldn't have bothered with it at the time, but intrests change.

That's what I was thinking the other day. I love it. I'm going to have to get mine out and restore them.MelvinsArmy wrote:How about the original Ultima?
He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.
