You just don't get the optima feel without the clacking chain. I will be disappointed but I will fully understand why if they take away the chain. Ill still buy one.

Yes! I knew it was only a matter of time. And you know they won't stop there. They have to maximize profits off that design and release the Turbo, Salute, or maybe even the Javelin...

Very cool. Im sure it will get similar upgrades as the scorpion. Should be a great runner. That could seriously replace my xx4 as a holiday car.

I'm hoping they go with a chain. But not the original style chain. I'm thinking it would be great if they
went with the chain from the Kyosho motorcycle. That would be an improvement over the belt as well IMO.

judging by what they did to the driveline on the Scorpion - I wouldn´t put my money on a chain.
Instead the ESC will feature a rattling chain sound.

Might have to pick two up, one for a box art example, and one to replicate RCCA's 'Project Optima' which I used to drool over when I was younger http://www.rccaraction.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/4-24-2014-1-00-33-PM.jpg

Great news :D looking forward to build a vintage racing machine and beat up some hot shots, i really think Kyosho did a good job on their re-release Scorpion so this is going to be interesting and expensive. I am hoping for beltdrive and fine pitch gears because i want a silent car  and a lot of option house stuff. A Javelin would be nice to.. And Ultima mid Lazer zxr. Keep up the good work Kyosho

Not interested in buying a re-release, after all it will be considerably more expensive than the three runner Optimas I already have. I just hope they stick a slipper in the gearbox so I can update my vintage racing Ultima to stop it pulling wheelies every time I apply just a little too much power.

Lmao at the esc. Sounds like something Traxxas would do.

not at all the chain was better.
performance/ reliability:
the belt skipped worse and the tensionar would cause epic jams when it fell apart.
if you got dirt in the rear gearbox it basically ate the belt(it was impossible to keep dirt out when you did the belt conversion)
the little lexan cover that was part of the tensonar was a nightmare as well.

Chains are more efficient I.E battery lasted longer, everything counted with 800-1200Mah batts.

The problem with kyosho was they never used hardened aluminum which is why the shock towers and chassis used to bend all the time.

i raced a turbo optima back in 1986-87. when i restored it i put the belt conversion in the chassis, if i ran it on the track again i would convert back to chain.
I never had any problems with my belt, ever.

I would totally run this at the track.
