Unused MG Magnum 15Quad, which was the hottest spec offered by MG for 1986/87. I have never seen another gold label MG in this condition before as the stickers were basically just gold paper and did not last well at all.

That's a fantastic collection of motors. There's quite a few that I've never heard of before.

Couple more here.... these came from a chap who used to visit the Sagami factory with Nick Adams of Demon Motors (he actually told me he has some pictures from inside the Sagami factory somewhere and is hoping to dig them out....)

Anyway, the first is a Demon label i have not come across before, with 'RACE MOTOR' lettering. It is a fixed timing, graphite bearing 21 Double. These were sold as a budget club-spec motor in 1987-88. Nice mild 2WD motor I would suggest.

Next up is another Sagami-based motor, unusually having the normal Demon square cane base holes and even a Demon logo endbell, but has a TQ Racing label on it. I have never seen or heard of a TQ Racing motor before. There was a TQ Models model shop in the Uk at that time, so my only guess is that Nick made up a batch of his motors and relabeled them for sale through that shop for a time. Cool label anyway, and a great and unusual addition to the collection. I haven't opened it up to check the armature spec yet.

Nick Adams was also experimenting with aluminium windings on his armatures, and here is an example of one such armature. No idea of the spect at this stage but worthwhile me testing it out i think.

Another cool find is a blank, open silver Sagami can and unused Demon endbell, complete with a blank armature and a note accompanying it saying 'Wind your own'.... The base of the can has a JAPAN stamping, which the usual black can Demons do not, so I can only presume this might have been some sort of early sample sent out to Nick Adams?

Just a quick note on here to point any Fb users who may be interested.... there is now a Vintage Demon RC Fb Group which has plenty of information relating to Demon Power products.

Another Demon, an early one too. This is a never soldered and unused pre-Sagami silver can Mister T Special. These were THE motors to have in your swb drilled, milled and lightened early RC10 on the UK racing scene. This was from a period before Nick Adams had commissioned the DEMON logo endbells so used fairly crude letter stamping around the bearing instead.

This will sit nicely in my collection with my Mr.T and my Single HT.

Redid a Trinity Monster Mash and built another motor from parts.

I had already cut the comm on the MM, so it just needed a good cleaning and freshening up.

The decal was in poor condition and the can had some surface rust.

Screenshot_20220219-134138_Gallery.jpg
I stripped the decal, polished the can with a fine sanding block, and applied a new MCI decal.

I touched up the comm with a fiberglass pen, oiled the bearings, and installed some new Reedy brushes and springs.

Screenshot_20220219-132348_Gallery.jpg

The other motor is a conglomeration of parts. I got the Top can and endbell (round, angle brush) in a parts lot. The armature is from a old Speedworks Buggymaster that was in otherwise poor condition. I had bought the decal from MCI just because it looked cool.

Anyway. Cleaned everything, painted the can, cut the comm, and put it all together.

Nobody is about to confuse that motor with a real Reedy BK but they sure look good together.

Here's another one I just refurbished.

It was a "Team Big Block" motor, built with a GM can and endbell.

I disassembled the endbell, cleaned and polished the brush hoods, and polished the can. The Trinity Experimental decal was the only thing that I could find that matched the brush hoods.

I've got another of the decals, probably going on a different Team Big Block motor. At least the other one is Epic based.

Restored this today, cut comm, brushes, decal....usual stuff....ended up being a classic piece once I got it taken apart....It had a Joel Johnson signature decal but was all beat up....motor turned out to be a 17x3, same won 87' with in his Ultima I believe....motor rips.....31,100 rpm @ 7.2.v, 2.9 amps
Hoping to put it in a box art Turbo Ultima one day....if I ever get one, or possibly put it in the rere Mid that's pre-ordered

Rainy day boredom work.

Picked up another Speedworks Monster Mash, this one in much better condition than my other.

It didn't need much more than a good cleaning, polish the can, and a new decal.
Screenshot_20220405-123913_Gallery.jpg
And then there were two.
Screenshot_20220405-123859_Gallery.jpg
Now I have a fake Wimpy. This one was a Team Big Block, Top stock. Good cleaning, new brush hoods, and a new decal.
Screenshot_20220405-123928_Gallery.jpg
I always liked these Fantom labels (I also have a real pink and black one). This is another Top stock, except with a chrome can. It only needed cleaning and a new label.
Screenshot_20220405-123944_Gallery.jpg
And this last one is another hodgepodge build. Its an old Speedworks can (kinda rough) with a newer Epic stock arm and P2K style endbell. It took a little work to get right, but it screams with 30°of timing. I chose the Checkpoint label because it covers most of the can and the black and gold colors.

I picked up this Trinity Slot Machine 2, mainly because I like the red endbell.

I cleaned it good, cut the comm, trued the brushes, and put on new brush hoods. I had a couple Speedworks decals and thought it looked good with the endbell.

Today, I did this Reedy 14X3.

Disassembled and cleaned everything, cut the comm, polished the brush hoods, painted the can, and added a new MCI decal. It already had the timing label that matches the decal.
Screenshot_20220415-180537_Gallery.jpg
Screenshot_20220415-180549_Gallery.jpg
The brushes had been soldered to the hoods, so I had to disassemble them to clean them up. When I polished them, all the gold color came off. At least there isn't solder spots on them anymore.

And a couple more.

This one started out as a crusty Peak Racing 12X2. It was overhauled in the rehab thread.

Cleaned everything, polished the brush hoods, painted the can, and a new MCI decal.
Screenshot_20220416-153705_Gallery.jpg
Screenshot_20220416-153717_Gallery.jpg

This one is another hodgepodge build. It uses a Chinese can, Orion 12X2 arm, and Trinity endbell.

Cleaned everything, polished the brush hoods best as could be, touched up the can finish, cut the comm, and new MCI decal.
Screenshot_20220418-121254_Gallery.jpg
Screenshot_20220418-121239_Gallery.jpg
None of the parts were particularly nice but the end result isn't too bad.
