Outstanding, inspiring work j0pp3. Don't those yellow wheels finish it off nicely, a perfect contrast to the rest of the car.
Standard/correct shocks too, which in my experience are very good.

Re: Optima Mid Custom - Build/Restore
Thanks sheriff, I have done my best checking the manual. I love the yellow wheels on this one.sheriff wrote:Outstanding, inspiring work j0pp3. Don't those yellow wheels finish it off nicely, a perfect contrast to the rest of the car.

Things that are not stock right now - the adjustable parts for the front chocks. They should have a plain spacer like the rear shocks. I will fix that sometime.
Cheers!

The pictures look good. How did you take them with the white background?

Re: Optima Mid Custom - Build/Restore
Thank you. I am using an old Canon 40D with 50mm f/1.8 with these settings: ISO 100, f16, 1/8 sec shutter speed. Below you can see how my desk looks where the images are taken. 1/8 sec shutter also takes a tripod and for extra stability I am also using a remote.3trxvintage wrote:The pictures look good. Re: Optima Mid Custom - Build/Restore
The pictures really make this build look awesome - just like the other Mids. Great job!
This car was my first real RC car, great to see your build as it reminds me of my well-spent childhood!
Out of interest, what sort of paper are you using there? I know the big rolls of photo background are quite expensive' just wondered what you use?

I am using a white tablecloth (oilcloth). I think that's the correct translation. You know that kind of overlay that is good if you have kids. It's thick so it does not tear apart easily. Also very easy to clean. It is 150cm wide and I bought 3 meter for around $10.

Ah ok, sounds interesting, will have to have a hunt for something similar over here. I just use white boards of card, which are ok for cars (mostly) but for trucks they are not big enough so i cant get the images I want without getting the garden in the background! LOL!j0pp3 wrote:Thank you jamin!

Cheers sheriff!sheriff wrote:Have you fitted a body shell to this yet, j0pp3?? If you have, let's be seeing it!
Actually I almost ordered a body about a month ago but instead, started looking for parts for the two other LWB models. That work will continue during the current winter season. I will soon order bodies and decals for all three cars at once and start two more build threads

Re: Optima Mid Custom - Build/Restore
Finally some clothes on! I really like how it turned out. Not that I'm a good painter (I still use brushes) but for my painting standards it's good
Like my SWB cars this also needs white marked text on the tires. Will be sorted out sooner or later.
