Oh, sorry Mike, I didn’t realize you used the black shocks because you didn’t have a good set of golds. Sorry for my comment (I’m feeling like an ass now). So, yea, black caps on those shock and you're good-to-go, call’er done. Fantastic build!!

if you wanted to go with the goldies, at the rate used shocks are priced on ebay, I'd pick up just the bodies directly from associated(top loaders) and call it done. You already have good gold caps.

ah crap you are right, i was thinking the .56 shocks. You could still run them in the low position on the shock tower though. won't be completely correct, but would look purdy.

Re: Modded Gold pan CE build
I would just put the black caps on those bodies, I think the contrast looks good with all the gold elsewhere. Unless you're dead-set on it being correct.
Anyway, looks great!

Hi Mike. Any updates? What were you planning with regard to body, wing, gear cover, motor, electronics?

Perfecto! I have a Mirage body on a couple shelfers but not on a runner. I still have one of these NIB so hopefully that will change sometime this winter. As for Airtronics, Novak and Reedy, you also can’t go wrong with any of these. Totally period-correct. I forgot to ask, the nose/chassis/motor plate mods, did you do these or did you find these items pre-modded? Is there an official pattern for cutting these pieces or was it mostly an artistic endeavor that also happens to shave a few grams? Anyway, it looks pretty cool.

Thank you and as far as the chassis mods i did those my self and there are lots different ways you can make it look its basically just what you like and it does save some weight.

I love those Losi X patterns, they were my favorite vintage tires back in the day...

Re: Modded Gold pan CE build
Crisp! Nice and clean. Sounds silly but I wouldn't have wanted to make the grey / gold shock desicion. Especially since like you said it would have been a period correct mod. I like the golds though.
Hope you're doin' something fun.
