Re: RC10 CE updates
that makes sense. so now back to the shock build. should have done both front at the same time to try and ensure consistent build.

Re: RC10 CE updates
well when i disassembled one of the rear shocks it was missing one of the two nylon washers. Does anyone have a part number for this? I wasnt able to find a number in the manual. Is this a common part i should be able to find in any hobby shop?
also, found this old instruction supplement. couldnt find this on the AE website for RC10 manuals. pics are out of this supplement.

I could be wrong, but I think https://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/6440-ASC6440-rebuild_kit/
The Parts List/Exploded View shows reference to 6440.

Re: RC10 CE updates
Okay. I didn’t realize how cheap the rebuild kit is. I was trying to avoid buying the whole kit thinking it was more $$.

Re: RC10 CE updates
well im going to need the rebuild kit to finish the last shock. I built one of the rear. i think it turned out okay. The shock has NO rebound whatsoever. i filled the shock body with oil, then slowly pushed the piston up and down twice to remove excess air. fill in a bit more oil, then capped it. NO REBOUND. Is this good/preferable? messed with the fronts some and they both have some rebound but are much more consistent left to right than before. they dont fully rebound when pushed in but they certainly extend back out some. I'm going to get the rebuild kit ordered and then finish the last shock. I think at this point the goal is consistency. any thoughts or suggestions?

Yes, consistency is the goal. However, unless you're planning to race the car, I wouldn't worry too much about achieving absolute perfection. It takes some practice to get them right. Sorry about the missing washers but at least you can still buy them and the price isn't too bad.

Re: RC10 CE updates
the rebuild kit is for all 4 shocks... I would rebuild all 4 in one go, o-rings swell with time so you want new parts in there after all this time, especially if they are paid for alreadysbednara wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 6:48 pm well im going to need the rebuild kit to finish the last shock. As said above - don't worry too much about less/more rebound for now, as long as your front and rear shocks are similarly built. What you don't want is too much rebound - you still want to be able to push the shock shaft pretty much all the way through, without it stopping dead before the end - this means too much oil (hydrolock) or too much air in there.
Enjoy your rc10

Re: RC10 CE updates
Thanks for the tips guys. I get caught up in wanting both sides exactly the same. I’m about to settle for relatively close though. I’ve ordered the rebuild kit and will do all 4 at the same time. I’m ready for this part to be completed. Next is the transmission rebuild and I’m afraid that will be even more fun. Good thing I’m not in a rush.

Re: RC10 CE updates
Oh your right lonestar. It is fun.
Another shock question. I’m buying the rebuild kit and just noticed the split washers in the kit are not the same as the ones I have in my shocks. Mine are round split washers like the ones in the pic from the manual I posted. The kit has square looking ones. Will these work with my shocks? What’s with the change? I asked AE and they said they had a running change on the shocks. So I don’t know what the evolution is of the shocks on this car but mine are slightly different than what the kit is for I guess. Is the washer the only difference? Is there a different shock body? Pistons? Anyone know and can help clarify for me?
Thanks for helping the new guy here!!

Re: RC10 CE updates
the squared washers are fine. they are updated from the original round ones. I think they are probably easier to install and remove.
other than gold or hard anodizing, the top load shocks are pretty much the same until you get the V2 style bottom load.
