Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
Fantastic build Reg. As the title says, definately not the standard run of the mill build.
I watch with enthusiasm.

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
VERY nice. I'm so used to seeing Losi cars covered in florescent colors so this b&w color scheme is a nice and unique change.
I miss my old Losi collection...

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
There will be some fluorescent paint on the shell!! Thanks though- I don't go off the grid on cars too often
This one was for sure...but a prototype chassis needs something a little different
Jose's 94' color scheme with likely be in a very Losi-esque pattern on the shell

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
Small update but beautiful! So you kept these pics in the back-up folder until the Losi forum needed to be revived? I reckon we need more builds here. I have a project on the way but not enough yet to share anything. That yokomo shell is simply awesome.

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
I'm not sure if Jose' painted it himself, or if it was an original from 94. But the very first time I saw it, it just grabbed me. I'm not 100% on how the colors will translate into the "right" Losi pattern...but I think I can pull it off

Just keep mixing colors and patterns until your eyes start to melt. Then you have gotten it right.Charlie don't surf wrote:I'm not sure if Jose' painted it himself, or if it was an original from 94. I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

I like the paint job in the previous picture but it's a shame so many stickers are overwhelming it. Then again, I'm not a fan of stickers...

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
Stickers make sense to me on a race car, so I see the 94' YZ10 as a flat-out race car anyway...so it works in that sense. I was going to use this factory (Gary Kyes painted) shell until I noticed its a hella-rare JRX Proformance shell, painted in house too boot I am going to replicate the paint for my actual JRX Proformance kit, with an easier to find genuine JRX Pro shell and leave the history alone in the original.Coelacanth wrote:I like the paint job in the previous picture but it's a shame so many stickers are overwhelming it. But this JRX Pro will use those (Yokie) colors, in a more Losi-typical pattern and symmetry. Will have some stickers, but not a ton.

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
No, I didn`t. But I made ` a try` with the body of a 1/12 Trinity Revolver I have, paint is Faskolor. This YZ10 was painted by a japanese pro painted called Novi in 1994/95.Charlie don't surf wrote:I'm not sure if Jose' painted it himself, or if it was an original from 94. That paint job "Jose's 94' color scheme" is amazing but honestly the one thing that strikes me the most is the way the windows were masked off. Very sharp and with nice shape! Of course I might appreciate that a ton as I just dusted off my JRx Pro SE from when I was in high school and I cringe at the black paint windows with soft lines.

Re: Seriously different JRX-Pro
Yes...I realize that sponsor stickers are necessary on race cars, they're footing much of the driver's bill in racing costs anyway. But still for me, it's a "can't see the forest for the trees" kinda thing when it comes to sponsor stickers.Charlie don't surf wrote:Stickers make sense to me on a race car, so I see the 94' YZ10 as a flat-out race car anyway...so it works in that sense.Coelacanth wrote:I like the paint job in the previous picture but it's a shame so many stickers are overwhelming it.
