Re: I had a bad day!
This has been weighing on me since I first discovered the bad news, how does one get a proper evaluation? You cant just go out and buy what many of us have. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to how much money you'd be satisfied with if you sold everything, but what's fair?

Re: I had a bad day!
HOLY CRAP ROD!!! I'm so sorry to hear man but honestly, I'm happy to hear that you and your family are ok. That fire could've been SO much worse and far more important things could've been lost including someone I consider a personal friend. Toys are toys brother but who am I going to play COD with!?
RC10th- To answer your question, I'm assuming (I skipped reading the last few pages) that you're asking about for homeowners/renters insurance. I had an appraiser come out and do an appraisal on my RC collection. Considering that beyond a few really cool cars and what not that I have, I have Masami's jacket, the Moo truck and a few other items that are simply irreplaceable. The appraiser came out and put a value on my collection and I have that number on my insurance policy. It's like anything else in life... there are some things that can simple NOT be replaced if they're lost or stolen but you can at least recoup their "fair market" value.

Re: I had a bad day!
OMG Rod, that is really terrible and this is actually one of my worst nightmare that happened to you. I really feel sorry but of course I'm really glad no one was hurt, not even your dogs! That Edinger car is a terrible loss indeed and if it can be restored, I would be glad to help you as I have something like three complete chassies in parts here. Hopefully the signatures can be made again! Anyway do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything I would be glad to help and keep on smiling indeed by looking at everyhting that actually survived and look at the bright side of it: it's only a few "items" that went away!

Re: I had a bad day!
It will be 2 months on the 14th, the lower section of the house has been gutted down to frame work. I will get some pics later. But found a few other pictures of damage.
My vintage Aurora slotcars and track buildings. Loss is the custom track with routed boarders, 2 grand stands, 6 pit garages, 5-6 bleachers, too many cars to list!

A few vintage sets all stained and charred!

These are my TQ10's not bad, just need bodies, wings and cleaning. I can salvage all these cars!

Damn Rod, hard to believe it's been almost 2 months! The one positive thought you need to keep in mind is "My collection is still better than Ken's!". Keep your nose to the grindstone and soon it will all just be a bad memory followed by the joy of treasure hunting on ebay once again.

Re: I had a bad day!
Should I have mentioned that I saw NoThumbs running from your basement just moments before the magic smoke was released from your charger and batteries?
The man should know better, with no thumbs, he's pretty easy to pick out of a police line-up!

Nah, I'm not allowed in Canada. I was banned by the Prime Minister for my controversial views on Maple syrup.

Re: I had a bad day!
Sorry to show pictures of the damage but I promise I will show pictures of all the rebuild of the house and cars!
This is the kitchen floor, since this was taken all the beams have been removed and replaced. All walls in the basement cleaned and sealed. Very slow work!
