I finally got one

Post by RC Chick »

After 4 months of recycling cans I finally got the Traxxas slash!! Check on the action shots of it in the sand. It did pretty good out there, only wish I knew the diff cover ahd a hole by the rear axle. I got sand in the pinion and spur. put some electrical tape onver it on both sides and no more sand. This thing is a blast. I can't wait to get started on my track.

Is that your back yard? :P  Like ED said instead of a track you could do a multi stage mini Dakar rally. Geez, that does look like fun.

No it wasn't in my back yard. My yard doesn't have that nice smooth sand. I took the slash to a place in the desert and ran it there. Its nice blow sand right there and thought it would be a nice place for pictures. I had a blast out there running it. unfortunatly that spot has gusts up to 75mph on a windy day. The day I was out there it was blowing at 45mph gusts so I had to be quick with timing and stop when the wind gusted. Just to the west of were I was are hundreds of wind mills.

I'm jealous!

That Fabtech body is my favorite!

My high maintanence RC10GT Factory Team's days are numbered...I've had it w/gas..

I may plan on dumping (selling) it soon and getting 2.

A Slash for my 11 year old & one for myself would be a blast compaired to lugging around 2 tons of support equipment for a gas truck, or worrying about breaking the latest obsolete part.

That's not gas powered, it's nitro. If you really want fun get yourself a true gasser. One of those would be an absolute blast in RCchick's area.
Nice slash too, I'd love to have somewhere local like that to bash my baja once in a while.

Sorry for the misleading terminology,

Gas, Nitro, Fuel, Diesel...non-electric..

Even though they are completely different formats, 'round here they're somtimes called the same for R/C stuff.

Baja....You bet, I'd love one of the gasoline powered HPI's, they ROCK..

For now, I might stick w/electrics for the most part.

Is the SC10 worth the money?

When you add up all the inevitable hop ups & equipment ($$$) that will surely be be needed, (just to get it running) will it hold up as well for racing or bashing?

If I can get a Slash for 2 bills with water proof electronics, a motor, universals, radio, etc., where would the advantage be in buying a SC10?

I read the Car Action test on it, & it seemed OK, but that chassis looked like it was made out of some sort of potato chip/plastic composite material. The front of the chassis looked to be about an inch across. I have my doubts about it's true durability....

Dog bones?...are you kidding me Associated?...this is 2009. For a bare $200 chassis, this is an outrage. Especially for a truck that's also made in Taiwan.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a "Team" player too, but Associated has a habit of making "me too" stuff that marches to the beat of it's own drummer...The DS was an awesome car on it's own, but it couldn't compete with the touring cars of the time. (They tried thir own racing class, but it didn't work.) The 10T was a factory version of the truck conversions of the late 80's, dating back to the Blackfoot. The RC10 Graphite's and later B2, 3, & 4's owe their start to the Losi's and prior Tamiya's.

If anyone's got one, please let us know how it works out.

When Associated can package ($) their truck near the Traxxas set up or price it more accordingly, I may reconsider.

I didn't get the SC10 due to having no electronics in it. I like the idea of putting it together, Haven't put a new kit together since 93-94. I also didn't know the reliability of them since they weren't much talked about here. I am torn between getting a 2.4ghz controller or keeping the stuff I have, people tell me if your not racing it don't spend the money of them. I do plan on getting the SC10 though. I think I might sell my Lazer zx5 now. No track to play on any more and it doesn't do well in the sand.

If those gas powered ones weren't 1k Id have bought one. There is a nice spot I take my 1.1 Truck out to bout 12 miles from my house and play in the sand I dlove to bash the HPI baja out there. One day I'll take a pic of the area so you can see the Virgin sand. Its funny because every day its virgin sand. YOu tear it up and the next day it looks as if no one was even there.

RC Chick- congrats on getting the Slash. Right now it's raining but under my back seat of my truck I always have my Slash and my Blade mCX (micro heli). I just flew for a bit to get my r/c fix. ;)
For the money the Slash is a blast.
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

I would/am have gone with the Slash too. Most tracks around me are running "spec" Slash anyway. For bashing/parts availability you can't beat the "T" word :P

I would not mind winning an sc10
