My RC10T project------slowwww project

Post by Truckguy »

Hi all, a few months ago when I joined, I showed a pic of my lightly used RC10T Team truck I bought back in '96. Being I bought a brand T truck to play with, and inspired by some other projects, I decided to blow apart my truck and start a build. This will see very light use when done as I want to keep it pretty, but I will still run it.

Please be patient, because this is no where near my main hobby, it will be a much slower build.

Pic of the truck as i pulled it out from its long hibrination.

Take your time and do it right. A couple hours here and there and it will be done.

Like you, this isn't a priority for me either. That being said, it is a lot of fun and a great distraction.

Thanks.

Chassis is out to be coated, I have some RPM parts here waiting. I found some of the elusive HPI front wheels like i had on the front--both in chrome and white. The rears I need to get still but seem to be a bit more available. So the big wait now is on the chassis.

Thats looking pretty good. I know what you mean about not being your main hobby. I got mine back in the day cause I always wanted on rc vehicle, but I didnt know much about them at the time and I know even less about them now. :D

Twister, man you speak volumes about that stuff. I bought mine about 6 years after I was truely into it--and out of it, and even then I could not believe how much had changed. Now getting back into it almost 15 years after again, I am just about as lost as ever. Technology has really taken hold of the hobby since I last knew it. I'll just leave this basically an old school build I think for now. But we'll see, things have a way of getting carried away sometimes, LOL.

Went and picked up the chassis from the powder coater last night. As usual, this place I used did a fantastic job. I know the color might seem a little unorthodox, but it is definatly much more for show. As i stated earlier, I am not going to abuse this already unabused 10T. I have to gather and clean up a few more parts for now.

Hi there... was wondering if you have old chassis and have it powder coated...would they sand it first so it is smooth?

That is something you need to talk to your powder coater about. My chassis had very minor scuffs and scrapes, not sure what they did, but you can't tell any of them were even there. Its something I wasn't concerned about personally--but i am glad they are gone.
