Bearing Blaster
Does anyone have a bearing blaster, not the RPM One, but the aluminum one we used back in the day?
Re: Bearing Blaster
I've got one somewhere. Round cylinder with one end that unscrewed and there is a cone & spring(?) inside... It's been so long since I've used it. I know it's floating around somewhere...
Need pics or something? Just lemme know!

Re: Bearing Blaster
I always preferred to spray it directly into the bearing thru one of those little red high pressure tubes. That way it could splatter right back into my eyeballs and I could scream out in agonizing pain... but that's just me.

LOL I know right?!?!?! What feels really good is when you get carb cleaner sprayed into your eyes because you stuck the tube in a passage to clean it out and not knowing where it will shoot out...THEYTOOKMYTHUMB wrote:I always preferred to spray it directly into the bearing thru one of those little red high pressure tubes. Re: Bearing Blaster
I had the MCS one which was aluminum. That's probably what you're thinking of. I don't remember getting rid of mine but haven't seen it in years.

Re: Bearing Blaster
The one that I have and the one I think that Dave is referring to is/was made by MCS. I wish I had a pic of it so I could post...

Re: Bearing Blaster
I simply soak bearings for a while in WD-40, which gets rid of all the oil & grease, then use compressed air and/or a toothbrush to clean out the gunk. Re-lube with your favorite oil and you're good to go.
I gotta laugh at all these expensive niche products that get manufactured which cater to all these hobbyists who pay for a supposedly premium product but they work no more effectively than readily-available el-cheapo everyday items.
Other good examples of these niche products are the Parma FaShine Lexan body "polish" that claims to make the body more aerodynamic, but all it is is a grit-less Lexan cleaner, you could accomplish the same thing with rubbing alcohol, and go even one better by rubbing down the body with automotive polish or scratch & swirl remover (Nu-Finish does the job); and Novus, an expensive range of polishing compounds that cost way more than el-cheapo 3M rubbing compound/polishing compound/Nu-Finish Scratch Doctor.
I'm not saying the products aren't effective, I'm sure they are...I'm just saying they're way overpriced and there are much cheaper alternatives that are just as effective.

Re: Bearing Blaster
RRP made an aluminum blaster and Cheetah Racing made a white plastic one.
I remember getting motor cleaner all over my clothes and face after cleaning motors at the races.

Re: Bearing Blaster
I had one before, but was lost
also looking for one now. Don't like the cheapo plastic one ...aluminum was neat.... Wonder if they still make those today?

Re: Bearing Blaster
So, can someone put a picture up of one pleased..... I have a few thingummys that I thought at one time or another were bearing blasters, but don't know.... and even if I did, do not know how to use.....
Would be great, I have hundreds of bearings I'd prefer to clean any other way than WD40 in my eyes....
