RC10 Issues

Post by Bent »

Ok guys I'm having a few issues with my old rc10. I decided to do a full tear down and clean it up go through the trans and all. Thats just what I did, the trans is good and has fresh lube, the bearings are good, the carriers and all that is good. Diff is good. I then installed all the gear and Reprogrammed and reset the servo and esc.

The problem I have is when I spin the motor off the ground it is good and smooth and the motor is strong. I then take it out walk all the way to my track set it down and it crawls. Some times when I turn it kiks and takes off but not everytime. What could be causing this? I have a 13x2 motor with a LRP no limit icp pro esc.

Sounds more like a servo or radio problem to me, do you have capacitors on the motor? Replace the servo, if still not solved, the receiver and the radio.

Asso_man! I do have capacitors on the motor. The servo is out of my old 1/8th scale it is a high tech HS-645mg. But as I said it doesnt do it all the time. I will check the receiver it is an old futaba am with Traxxas crystals.

Also how would you guys suggest bracing the chassis.

Sounds like the old school glitching problem. If the servo you have is high power, it could be causing the problem. Some of the higher power servos need an extra capacitor to help power them.

If it is in the budget I highly recommend upgrading to a 2.4Ghz radio system. After I upgraded to brushless I could not even drive the car because of all the glitching.

As for bracing the chassis, I really like the A&L Chassis stiffeners, which are still available through Daryl Lane.

Here is a shot of the car, I don't think it is a high torque but it may be. I have thought about a 2.4 it would make things much easyer but its just not in the cards right now.

bracing that chassis might be a project in itself. Maybe you could build some kind of a 'top plate' like on a yokomo to go over all the electronics and attach in front of front shock tower somehow :?

The pig curled blue wire off that IPC SR is a digital servo lead, if it touches something conductive it will glitch at best, fry the speedo at worst. Caps on the motor with.that AM system is s must.

What kind of battery are you using? Looks like a Nimh. You might try a cheap lipo instead.

The Hitec 645 is a Hi Torque servo.

Sounds to me like the brushes are bad if it needs a push to get going.

Commutator probably needs a cut and the brush springs might need replacing too.
