Can anyone help me find an article. IIRC it was an issue of RCCA and they did a 1955 Chevy "Shoebox" build. I remember reading that article over and over as a kid it has to be either RCCA or RC Modeler but they didn't do a lot with cars. I'm pretty sure this article was pre 1990. I've downloaded all the old scans and just can not find it.
I'll look through my old collection of RCCA and see if I can find it. I remember the article because I was going to do a similar build. I still have the '55 Chevy body somewhere.
That would also explain why I couldn't find it as that is one of the few issues that isn't available in the historical archive section on RCCA's website!
I knew I wasn't entirely crazy! Well now to hunt down that issue!

Thank you but I was able to track a pdf of it down thanks to this site so the tribute build will start soon. Finding a Hornet shouldn't be a problem but sourcing the wheel/tire combo and a bolink 55 chevy body might take some time.
Glad you found it! I dug up my old issue (Oct 87) and was gonna scan it for you but I guess you're good to go. I should go track down that body and see if I can find it, it's the original Bolink body. Good luck on your build, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks for the help. I don't know how long this is going to take as like a lot of us on here I do have a few other projects but I am excited about this one and am actively sourcing a hornet and wheels and tires. I will update as parts start arriving and the build begins.
For those that are interested here is the article and basically what I plan on doing. Hopefully I will be able to build it as close to specs as possible but a few things might be hard to source, mostly the wheels and tires and a true bolink 55 Chevy body.
I have quite a few of the twinn-k/Aj's tires and wheels
Get me some dimensions on what you would like and I probably have them or something close
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas Factory Works website
Now this is cool a prime example of statistics and road deaths..if we still drove cars like those built in the 50's the road tolls would be much higher..

Ouch. I like how the steering wheel pretty much hit the dummy in the teeth.

For a while there in the early 90's I feel like every other paint job in RCCA was a Motion Graphics body.
I mean, growing up in Western NY, that was the only paint guy I knew off the top my head, all from his exposure in that magazine. And I never...
