hobby stores are dangerous....

I went in to my lhs for this:

And found this in the consignment case

How could I pass up a minty AYK Buffalo? Came with a poorly painted body, manual, and some spare parts. Looks like it has maybe a run on it, couple little nicks. Needs wiring and some linkage for the speed control and on the shelf it goes. Id love to polish it but way too many other projects right now.

Consignments can be fun. I've found a few rc10s and things like that before. I usually leave my business card and tell them to call if they get any "old" buggies, but they never do. :(

I worked at this store for 8 years and know the employees well. It had been sitting there since Wednesday and they didn't brother to call. some friends!

Wow! Now that's a find. My local Hobby store has a used section, which usually contains 4 or 5 nitro Traxxas trucks. I found an original Super Champ there on day, (body broken in a few places, but chassis is certainly restorable) and also an original Sand Scorcher. The employees had no interest...

Lol!

I got a good deal. I offered 2/3 of asking and it was a done deal. Could have probably gone lower but what do you do. It was less than what they sold for new....by a bit

gomachv I see you love to keep bragging about what you find in Portland just to drive the rest of us crazy!

I however have a feeling you are talking about what used to be my favorite hobby store BITD when I used to go down there to visit my grandparents. I would spend many an hour and many a dollar there! :D

Tammies  Its the biggest by far. I also worked at Aero, long long ago (closed up for a few years now). Small shop but the track kept them busy. Salem has RC Pus which is awesome as well, but not very big.

Yup Tammies! I hadn't been there in about 20 years because my grandmother moved up here in 1992. I was down there a couple of weeks ago to pick up some cars I found on CL and was driving there thinking this looks so familiar and sure enough I drove right by. So of course on my way home I had to stop! The only thing that had changed was I didn't spend a lot of money but did spend a lot of time! Oh the memories I have of getting to go there as a kid and having my grandmother give me a $100 to spend...I miss those days

I started there in 93, they hired me for the move from Hall blvd to canyon where they are now. If you were around back then I probably helped you at one point. I was always in the car dept

Lol, fantastic! Cool find!

So the tally stands at:

gomachv 2 farmer 1

(score is at least since farmer threw down the gauntlet and we started "playing", haha)
