Post by discgolfer72 »

well since my buried by the family dog thread got a bit off topic thought id post these here
i will say that the conversion is super easy
the only thing i found is the hole that is cut for the slipper and shaft is to small and the pin rubs the opening
i had to take a steper bit and ream out the hole to make it work (ill be contacting the seller to inform him of this )

if you missed the other thread i used these

lightend steel spur
metal gears all around in the tranny
rpm arms all the way around
waiting on this coming on the slow boat from china

Looking great! 8)

Interesting take on the A Main. Electric to nitro and back to electric
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas
Factory Works website

lol
5-6 nitro cars are a big enough pain in the ars
and i hate just having all kinds of parts lying around so why not put them to use ina a complete car lol

i do need to get some front rims and tires to match the rear on the blue gt

that 3.5 t brushless will be on road only lol and im tired of burning up my offroad tires in 1 run as it is with my castle brushless setup

at least the tranny should be able to withstand the abuse of a 3.5 t

That was the aftermarket GT chassis designed for the GT. not a conversion chassis.

In reference to the GT trans being more robust- they're not, at least not when you lay a 3.5 to it-
Even a Novarossi 353 R CT+12 at nearly 1.7hp doesn't produce the instant or constant torque that a 3.5 can-
Nitro means higher RPM, and lower torque curves-

Truck looks good. 8)

Just use a lot of lube in the trans, especially if you are running a steel top shaft. I use Mobil 1 synthetic axle bearing grease, worlds great. I have started using that on just about everything that requires grease.

i would think a all metal gt trans would hold up at least as well as a factory team 18t diff

i have had my 18t since it was released
and run a 9200kv dynamite motor on it
i finaly smoked the rear diff the other day due to a thrown dogbone

lol instead of buying a diff i just bought these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/140948217322?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648

should have plenty of 18 scale spares now lol

well off to the shop to work on the black tub

whew finaly
this has taken me longer than any car to finish

but i just bought a new house and its eaten all my time doing all the rehab work

but after a long weekend that resulted my collection of gts ending with
a blown trans
2 smoked os motors
and a exploded clutch
and a xxxnt that the carb fell off on

i thought its about time to go back to elect for a bit lol

stole the bat holder off a traxxas bullet i have in the parts bin with no tires
and yanked the spepktrum reciver off the gt that the clutch blew up on
slaped a castle 3.5 t setup in it
and it has had its first offical run

and after a full bat ran thrue it i can tell you , its a onroad driver only.
the speed hog tires just spin in place on anything but hard dirt and concrete

but holy hell is it fast

hopefully the better half feels like maning the camera and the rain holds off cause its time to take this beast to a bug parking lot and see what it can really do

lol you can tell by the layer of dust on the body this build has been shelved for a bit
