Big Brute help

Trying to resurrect this thing and I'm missing the linkage between the servo and the steering arms.

I'm installing a more modern Futaba 3003 servo...anyone have a picture of how they've connected/installed an after-market servo in their Big Brute?

I've used turnbuckles & 4.8mm ball studs & cups for most of my cars. Stronger, almost zero slop, and easier to adjust.

Your really gonna hate the way kyosho designed this one
It's basically a rack, the servo had a post off the huge servo saver that keys into the rack.
Op, are you just missing the post or the whole servo horn assembly? Modern servos have the same dimensions of servos of that era so no issues there

Yeah...I was looking at my instruction manual and it looks like we changed everything around, and it looks like we may have fabricated some different servo mounts to make it work. I just found the original arm at the bottom of a box of parts, so I'm going to try and reassemble it the way (I think) we had it set up and see what happens.

If I'm looking at the manual correctly, we turned the servo sideways and cut out a piece of the chassis so it wouldn't rub. Who knows...my old man was always redesigning stuff and cutting stuff out to lose weight on the chassis. This thing hardly resembled a Big Brute the last time I ran it.

That's a little different take on the system but looks ok to me. The steering may bind a tad at extremes but it wasn't a great setup to begin with.

Yup...I remember it being an improvement over the stock setup, but if you have the wheels turned all the way and hit something with the inside tire (like a rock, or a course barrier) it would pop that steering rack inside the chassis and you were done for.

Looking at that layout, a turnbuckle with 4.8mm ball studs & ends would work easily enough to connect to the linkage, but that would be the least of your concerns. That dinky rod coming off the pivot sure looks flimsy.

They were, that's an original losi servo saver bellcrank. They broke a lot.
