What are RPM bumpers made from? Looking for plastic sheets
What are RPM bumpers made from? Looking for plastic sheets
I would like to buy a sheet of black plastic which is made from the same material that bumpers are made from (like the RPM bumpers). Something tough, semi flexible, available in thin sheets of 1 or 2 mm. Not to make a bumper, but for other protection. Thanks

It's their own plastic formula from what I understand, not sure what exactly it is.
Most people that fabricate their own bumpers use Kydex.

Kydex is easy to work with and cheap. It's what oooold bumpers were made of
You can get 6/6 nylon from McMaster Carr in sheets, it's the white dyable nylon basically what the original RC10's components were made of and is dyable. It's not cheap

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

That kydex stuff has too much texture to it. What smooth black plastic sheeting is there available? So long as it is tough-ish. I don't want to have to dye it black. Thanks

Kydex or abs styrene are your best bets as they are formable. Not too many plastics you can form easily otherwise.

Depends on what you want it for. For tough and black, take your pick from nylon, acetal, delrin, HDPE, UHMWPE, RG1000, PVC, UPVC, etc.
If it's for a chassis protector then I would suggest HDPE, UHMWPE, or RG1000, the toughest and lowest friction materials.

Great info Terry, thanks! The part won't be formed. I just want to cut a small rectangle from a sheet. It will be used to protect the underside of my black nose piece from scuffs. Also I need to make it roughly 1mm (not measured it yet) thicker, so it buts up perfectly against a 3mm carbon chassis. This will then avoid an underside 'lip' edge.
Many thanks guys, I will have a search....
