The Skateboard Thread
We've got a BMX and Other Bikes thread and Scr8p's previous avatar made me think we need a skateboard thread. So, I'll start and I need to dig up some classic 1980s images of some skating action. Half of my current re-issue collection that hangs on my bar wall at home is pictured below.
Who else was a skater BITD. Got any old or re-issue decks to show off. Post 'em here.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I wish I would have kept my original. I've got the reissue along with a couple of others I need to hang up in the garage. I'll post a pic when I get the garage organized in prep for the rest of the my crap moving in.

Re: The Skateboard Thread

This was my brothers board that I used to 'borrow'. He kicked my arse when i rode it in the rain one day!
My first board was a variflex with Dead bolt trucks and santa cruz factory seconds. This was about the same time everyone started to ride 40mm wheels and double nose boards.
I still skate today and keep in touch with some of the guys who involved with the UK skate scene.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
So they're re-re-ing decks now too? I was just thinking the other day that a skate thread would probably have good response in our community. Some of you guys pre-date me in the scene, with the cars, but also with the skate stuff. When I got heavy into skate, vert was on the downturn, and strreet was in. My boards had noses almost as big as the tail. What was the sickest trick you ever landed clean? My biggest stair ollie was a 7 stair in downtown Macon Ga, when was in college. Biggest trick kickflipped a 4 stair. I severely sprained my ankle doing a 6 foot gap with a four foot vertical drop at the Burger King drive thru in town too.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I may have my first RC10, but unfortunately all my boards went the way of the garage sale.
All I got left is an avatar, and some stickers.
This is a good site for anyone interested in the Skate Ranch that was in Del Mar, CA. http://www.delmarskateranch.com/

Thanks, I am all about color these days. I yell at most of the DH (Mountain Bike) racers I shoot (photograph) to wear color or go home.marlo wrote:Nice wall Jay! The colour and art on the boards makes for a unique decor idea.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I tried skateboarding in the early 90s but never was very good at it. I was pretty young at the time though. My father even built me a small half-pipe which was pretty cool. For a board I had a Santa Cruz Kendall Wolf with Independent trucks. I sold it on eBay a few years back and it went for more than I expected.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I think i picked these up roughly the time we met in Greenville
I also went for a Vallely Elephant with T-Bones and got vintage bullet wheels etc. for the santa cruz decks. They are already built, have to check for current pics.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
This brings back memories. My first real board ever was a Hawk Claw mini. I was too small for the standard size. It had black Gullwing trucks and Powell street wheels. I broke many of those trucks before I finally just settled on Independents. Never had a problem with them. Those wheels were not reversible so they got coned pretty badly. Later on I had a full sized Hawk Medallion but that thing was giant and just too big for street skating. I had lots of boards. The ones I can remember are an H-Street Magnussen, a Powell Bucky Lasek, a couple of generic Z decks, a Caballero, and an awesome Powell Mike McGill. I loved those old Powell boards. My friend still has an old Santa Cruz and his old Psycho Stick. Good times.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
Here's what I currently have hanging up in the spare room. I love displaying art work on skateboard decks and rotate them out from time to time. There's another 5 or 6 decks stashed away because my house is small
First, Rodney Mullen and Kevin Harris freestyle decks, both are reissues. I rode an original Mullen back in '86/'87 but it was stolen from my high school locker
Before that I had a Vision Gator, an Alva Street Fire and a Schmitt Stix Joe Lopes.
Not old school but from about 2000 or so, Acme "Bad Apples" series featuring artwork by artist/designer Brandon "Ragnar" Johnson.
Another Acme deck from the mid 90's featuring artwork of comic book character Darkchylde.
