two rattle can attempt

Post by spru »

Here are my two rattle can attempt for my RC10 ladies.
I think it is not to bad for a rattle can

Would be nice to get feedback from more experienced painter :)

Greetings
Raimund

Nice work!

With good masking skills, rattle cans can do just fine.

Those look great, I also love the first one. Purple & orange are an eye-catching combo. 8)

The masking process for rattle-cans or airbrushed paint is the same, you can do pretty intricate paint schemes with rattle-cans if you're good with the masking....the main problem I've found with some rattle-cans is the inconsistency of the spray. Some cans spray too thin, and some spit/splatter. For example, rattle-can Pactra CheZoom Teal is very bad for spitting & splattering.

The other advantages you get with airbrushing are custom color-mixing, and fine shading & thin line free-hand painting, which aren't always needed for mask-and-spray paintjobs.

Whow, I didn`t expect so much positive feedback  Thank you very much to all of you!
It took a good amount of time for masking but the most time for finding a design that fit my ideas of a vintage paint style. I am a guy that is not so interested into modern style but much more into vintage style. I grew up and raced at this time and I must say the old days were much more colorful mixed with comic style and extremely nice and stylish decals. Today you won`t be able to find nice decals. Not a single company produces colorful decals like Novak did in the old days. I think they were decal kings back in their days. The first shell is also my personal favorite. It`s from one of my two worlds car projects. The purple/fluo red/pink and orange turns out as a really perfect combination. Combined with vintage decals it is perfect old team style that I love so much! The only problem as Coelacanth mentioned are fine details or shading which are nearly impossible with a rattle can. The orange is a mixture of coats btw. fluo yellow and pink. I think I should also try a airbrush for my next attempts because I love details, shading and transitions. All your feedback is a perfect motivation for me to do more shells, soon.

All the best
Raimund

Thats some great work Raimund 8)

I think you should invest in an airbrush. You obviously have the skill and patience for it to be worthwhile.

I really like the paint on both cars

Thank you urpaldan!

I´m going to buy a airbrush soon because I want to give my shells some more deails which are only possible with a airbrush!

Here are some more projects/recent cars from my garage. Each shell is done with rattle can.

Greetings
Raimund
