Decided to share since everyone loves classic Kyosho!
These are recent pick ups that I couldn't say no to for the price.
Ultima with Tecnacraft wheels. I just found the original front wheels and tires but wasn't able to find the rear wheels and tires within boxes of stuff.
Turbo Ultima II
Double Dare with clod wheels. Found the original tires and wheels but haven't put them back on yet.

Tecnacraft wheels make anything look better! I like that Ultima too but fix the droopy wing. It looks like it needs Viagra.

Yeah, it's been on its lid a few times before I got it. Gotta fix that bit.Coelacanth wrote:Tecnacraft wheels make anything look better! I like that Ultima too but fix the droopy wing. It looks like it needs Viagra.

That's what I always said until last month. Ultima was $50. Turbo Ultima II was $50. And the Double Dare was $200 with working Futaba Magnum Jr radio. And those weren't the best deals I got...TM Ru22311 wrote:Man, those are in great condition. I have to agree, those wheels look slick on the Ultima! I never find awesome deals Congrats!

This was $150
Though it was funny he didn't buy 2x of the gears and diff+outdrives. Unless I just didn't see them in the box.

USA-1? I think I want to see it run once. I read a lot about its shortcomings so I don't think I want to push it and break things. But I would like to see it drive around next to a Clod and Double Dare.alcyon wrote:Run or keep ?

Someone at kyosho should have been fired for that steering mechanism
Otherwise they were a fun truck

Yeah, seems like the biggest unfixable issue with the truck.
I think I saw the Sassy Chassis had some mods you could make to the steering setup to make it better. But I'll probably leave this stock. I might even sell the Thorp diff and other gears since I will probably drive it once.

got my USA1 out today for the first time, quite impressed by the speed of it but quite disapointed by the steering.. i went through cleaned all the pivot points and everything looked good.. checked the servo operation all good, but under load that poor servo just struggled to move.. even with the cable tie around the servo saver it struggled.. thinking of trying a new servo metal gear not the era correct full plastic one.. also figure that i might do away with a servo saver..
other thought was has anyone tried fitting a second servo in the rear thus taking half the load of the steering??
the current steering is very simple and crude hence where lies the problem
it does get the curiosity going about trying to do a 4 wheel steering ultima or optima or even a lazer zx5... thoughts for a rainy day..

Maybe use a stronger servo instead?
Although I hope that you won't have the issue I had on my Tamiya DF-01 after installing a stronger servo: the car still didn't steer properly because the servo mounts flexed so much and the car was quite heavy (solution: alloy servo mounts).
