Kyosho Skyline 2000 RS Laser Sport... Educate Me Please!
So I love vintage RC models. Been building and bashing and racing since the mid 80's. Over the past few years I've built and restored a few Tamiya oldies, and a few RC10s. Mostly cars I had or wanted when I was younger, but all off roaders. Recently I have had the urge to add a couple vintage on roaders to my collection, and today I won this on fleabay.
1/12 cars are something I've never really payed any attention to. I've never lived in an area where I had somewhere to run such a car so never gave them a second thought. What I'd like to know is when this car was released. How long did Kyosho produce the Laser Sport series of 1/12 cars? In my research I've come up with very little info other than they offered it with (4?) different body styles. All Toyotas Nissans I believe?
Any information those smarter than I might have to give would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen many more sold as a Cox than as a Kyosho, probably a lot like the scorpions and such.

Klavy69 thanks! And yes the madness has set in. I'm having fun with the ailment though I'll be sure to post some more pics once I receive it. I have tracking for it already and it looks as though it will be here by the weekend.

Thanks for that info. Maybe I'll have some better luck using that in my searches.gomachv wrote:I've seen many more sold as a Cox than as a Kyosho, probably a lot like the scorpions and such.

That looks interesting, and not a body you see every day! Be sure to start a build thread and share your project walkthrough with the rest of us vintage Kyosho fans.

The problem is, Cox didn't really name them. Just "pro series". There was also a BMW 2.5

The body was the main reason I was interested in this model. I'll start a build thread once it arrivesCoelacanth wrote:That looks interesting, and not a body you see every day! Be sure to start a build thread and share your project walkthrough with the rest of us vintage Kyosho fans.

Ah thanks again. That explains why I still wasn't coming up with anything pertinent.gomachv wrote:The problem is, Cox didn't really name them. Just "pro series". There was also a BMW 2.5

It's a rebox of one of Kyosho's early 1980s 1/12 chassis. It has no suspension to speak of, no diff, beam front end, MSC on a red Kydex chassis plate.
I have a Soarer 2.8GT on the same chassis.

I have never seen that kyosho model..i have the 86 and the 89 catalogs and they dont show up in them. Looks like a gem though. I love 80s sedans.

I had never seen it either. I'd never even seen the Laser Sport series I don't think. I'm anxious for it to arrive though, just so that I can really check it out.

Don't expect a speed missile. It's entry-level late 1970s-early 1980s tech.

Well I'm sure I could make it a speed missile if that's what I was after. Lipo, 9T motor etc, and it would probably explode like a missile too I bid on it because it's a cool looking vintage pan car that I'd never seen before. Is a fairly complete looking package for a reasonable price that should look good on the shelf. If I decide to run it, it will be gently driven on the local tennis courts just for kicks.
