Reedy S Plus 17.5 Motor

Post by Basher67 »

I just swapped my Reedy M3 17.5 in my B6 for the Reedy S Plus 17.5. I have been delaying this because I was thinking a 17.5 is a 17.5, mine is still in great condition and I'm not going to spend a hundred bucks just to have the latest thing. Well, I was finally convinced and OH MY GOD what a difference. To start the S Plus weighs in at 27 grams lighter than the M3. The power level is not just a little more---it's a ton more. And it's not just at one end of the powerband either. I set my timing to 48 degrees on the end bell, which is about 44 degrees actual on an analyzer, and I'm running a 30 tooth pinion. It shreds the tires on the launch and the top speed on the straight away is tons faster than the old M3. I do have a cooling fan and the motor never got over 135 degrees. The motors magnets are so strong, that depending where the rotor is turned, the magnetic force will overpower and stop the cooling fan from rotating until the motor is rotated a little. My lap times dropped almost a full second after I got adapted to what suddenly feels like a mod car. These motors are getting crazy. I love it!
