Losi JRXT - Looking for Information on my "New" Truck

Post by Snaab9-2 »

Hey guys, I always had Kyosho RC cars growing up but I recently had a chance to get 2 Losi RC's and I was able to get both of them for a total of $100. I had to give them a try! They are by no means shelf queens but that is good because I am going to run them!

One is a JRX2 (I think) and the other is a JRXT (I think). I recently made some videos of the JRXT on my YouTube channel. I was shocked to see that it has a slipper clutch! https://youtu.be/v4PA1nnE4U4 Does anyone know anything about these? Does anyone know if you can get smaller spur gears for it and if so, what size?

The car does sometimes make a weird noise as can be heard in this video and I have yet to figure out what it is:

https://youtu.be/MBWXmN27EX0

Here is one I made today of the JRXT running on a baseball field:

https://youtu.be/Acb09BvIkPk

I am planning on going brushless with it soon (I will sell of the vintage power system) and it seems pretty strong (I always keep the punch turned down when I run brushless in my vintage RC cars and figure this has to be stronger than the trans in my Kyosho Raider which as done great with a brushless setup. I will probably play around with it and get it at least to 60 or 70 mph.... because why not.

Any tips or info on this truck would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!

Looks like you have a Losi hydra drive on the truck. It should have a slipper also.
Take a look at Dan's site OLDRC.COM / Sabula Tech. http://www.vintagelosi.com/Instructions_files/HydraDrive_A3100_1.pdf

Try not to put too much power to the trans. The diff can have a tendency to slip, get too hot and lock up. If my memory still serves me.

That is not a JRXT...it’s a LXT. It has some nice upgrades..Tecnacraft titanium turnbuckles, Litesink, A&L/Factory Works Steering arms and RPM gear cover and tall chassis brace. The transmission is the Retrofit with slipper and Hydradrive. I wouldn’t recommend trying to get this to run 70mph..you will be breaking parts that are getting expensive & hard to find..and its just not designed for that. Brushless would be ok but keep it reasonable and I would remove the Hydradrive because it’ll probably melt down...just use the slipper. Check out the Losi section here and Vintagelosi.com for more info.

Also…Uploading pics would be nicer than making us go watch your videos.

Thank you for the information, that is a BIG help!

I also have a JRX2 and it has a standard looking slipper clutch. I was working on getting the car ready to run today.... and noted the shaft that the spur gear is mounted to is bent. I am hopeful I can find one (I will dig up a manual and see if I can find it). Can't wait to get both of these up and running!

Edit: I guess I am going to need to get a new A3007 http://vintagelosi.com/3000PreXX.html#8

So can I simply remove the hydra drive unity and just run the slipper or would I need to get some additional parts to make that happen?

You'll need 133 and 136 then it'll all go back together minus the hydradrive.

Thank you! It has the same part number A-3124 for 133 and 136. So this looks like everything? https://www.ebay.com/itm/335088521339?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&srsltid=AfmBOopR7fhGpqjLt6A83szrL_Kq3iIkbrdA9m3pw9VZRIjTERPlV-NYj5M

Yep, looks like you'll need the longer spring as well then you should be good to go.
