XXX-4 Front axle

Does anyone know if the outer piece of a XXX-S and a XXX-4 Front axle are the same.
I know they have different part # in the manual ,but I'm thinking that's because they are sold as axle sets.

I can measure them when i get home but I'm pretty sure they are different. The steering knuckle on the xxxs is wider and the hex is removable without taking the pin out. The xxx4 the axle is shorter and the hex is reverse mounted and captured by the pin.

The only difference seems to be a slight shorter amount of threads. The XXX-S stub axle has 7mm of threads where the XXX-4 only has 5.5mm of them. You shouldn't have any issue running XXX-S stub axles on the XXX-4.

Somewhat related question...

Does the JRX-S LCD rebuild kit fit the XXX-4 LCDs?

Looking at pics, the axle and bone interface look the same, but the JRX barrel looks much shorter. Is that an illusion because it is also thicker than the X4 version?
