Supplies!

I'm going to redo the motor plate touchup. The paint pen I used is a bit too flat. I'll experiment with the epoxy to fill in the stealth holes on the chassis if I can get the color dark enough while mixing.

I think these are the correct towers.

And started on assembling the shocks. Dry for now.
I think I have the correct lower spring cups (without the cutout).

Still scrubbing on plastics and will do a peroxide soak if the sun comes out this weekend.

Your chassis looks to be the last version. You could build it short or long front arm.
https://rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=47447
That would also decide which towers and spring cups you would use.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Thanks for the link!

I'm leaning towards short arm, so I'll go with the full spring cups.

The aluminum black is working pretty well. I'll need to hit the edges again, but happy so far. Thanks for the suggestion.

Blued the axles and dogbones also.
20240203_103034.jpg
Filling the poorly drilled stealth holes with epoxy. I'm definately not a body work pro. A bit of sanding will be required after this cures.

Started sanding on the epoxy and it is looking better. I'll have to do another skim coat prior to final sanding and then I'll decide if I need to paint the chassis.

The arms and hinge pins are cleaned up and ready to go.
20240211_110231.jpg
And I cleaned up a Trinity stock motor to park in the chassis until I find a period correct Reedy or similar.

Your efforts are rewarded in a nice and clean build.
Also want to say I would put my vote in for NOT painting the chassis.
Looks very good as is :D

I second that, the holes look great the way they came. Well done. I wouldn’t paint the chassis either 8)

Thanks!
I decided to forego painting, but did apply a low gloss clearcoat I have on hand for HO slot car bodies to clean up some sanding scratches. It turned out pretty decent .

Fairly glossy when wet.

But loses some gloss as it dries.

Thanks! Dang pleased with it so far and have stuck to my plan to restore it without any re-re parts.

The rear hole patch is not perfect, but it is presentable.

Forum image attachments acting strange, so editing this a bit.

New in bag TQ tires!

I don't have the correct Proline boxart tires (Dirt Flirts) but I do have Terra Tamers which are similar.

I think TQ front tires are the correct choice.

Scored a clean stock motor on Ebay.
20240302_102038.jpg
Shame that the label is not visible once installed, but looks more at home than a Trinity motor.
20240302_102614.jpg
20240302_100200.jpg
Protection installed.
20240302_103242.jpg
And for the first repro part on the project. I'll probably use a TBG Sidewinder body, also. So, 2 repro parts are necessary in the project in total.

Mine isn't an exact original, more original themed car.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
