hidden member box at the log in page
i had a wake up call.im now " on the same page as every one else in life is"
a big a part of my situation is cowardlyness. im just wondering if people think its a cowardly thing to login as a hidden member. if so, you think there should be a little icon that says "coward" rite next to the log in as hidden box?

Re: hidden member box at the log in page
Meh, it can go either way. Theres many different reasons why someone would log in as invisible. Not all of them bad either. The majority of message boards have this feature, but really as far as members go theres no need for it. Its useful for moderators and administrators though. I log in as invisible now and again just for the hell of it.

Re: hidden member box at the log in page
so if bad hoopty is hidden so he can monitor what goes on when he is not around without others knowing he is watching then he is a coward? ummm no.. its a very useful feature in a lot of ways. and seeing that the feature is hard coded into the site it can still be used even if it is removed from all of the html with the right link. the only thing i dont like about it is how close it is to the "auto log me in every time" check box. their have been times i have checked the wrong one and hit the log in button before i realized i checked the wrong one. now i am not going to bother logging out just to uncheck it when this happens. i font feel this makes me a coward. lazy yes but not a coward.
now this can be a very useful feature to mods and admin. but i know some users use it for privacy reasons not just to hide. just because they don't want someone monitoring them and what they are viewing has nothing to do with being a coward.
just my thoughts.

Not cowardly, don't care either way. There are lots of reasons to do it.

Re: hidden member box at the log in page
I've never used that feature. I don't know why I'd need to, I've got nothing to hide and I don't care who sees me no matter where I am on this board. If people want to use it I suppose that's fine, but it seems like the only reason you'd want to use it would be to avoid someone, which leads me to believe you might be up to no good. I don't know why else you'd be hiding.

the time i've taken out of my life to try and resolve this problem is probably equal or greater than the time it would have taken for matthew to ship out a package.
fail.
fail.

Re: hidden member box at the log in page
I started a thread about this a while back, with the same thoughts as Scott, but after a few comments from guys, I came to realize that some members just like to lurk for their own reasons
the same as some guys not posting pics of their builds

Lolz Hoopty.
From now on, maybe we should just keep a twitchy finger on the old ban button.

That's the mark of good moderation and code of conduct guidelines.Charlie don't surf wrote:Sad, but not to get off track--there really hasn't been many problems here overall, I'd say 99% of the board members are nothing but quality
Now if we could just get them to do something about scr8p's cross dressing ... <G>

Hey, we don't discriminate around here. If we did, you'd have been the first weirdo to go.Halgar wrote: Now if we could just get them to do something about scr8p's cross dressing ... <G> :mrgreen

Re: hidden member box at the log in page
no but can't we make a video we could sell? all the profit could go back to the site to cover any costs needing to be covered. we could call it "R/C Car Dudes Gone Wild".MelvinsArmy wrote:Hey, we don't discriminate around here. some of the feature vids will be cross dressing, panty sharing, and panty tagging.
it could be marketed to the ladies of the board.

now as for hiding your online status, i could care less. simply because as an admin, we can see who is online no matter what.
