My Blue Optima project...
Well, for years, I have dreamed of a custom Optima build which incorporated custom anodised chassis parts, belt drive system, ball diff, oneway front, 2.2 in. yokomo rims, racing shocks, etc. -as a racer. Well, here it is my "Blue Edition Optima". It has all these options and more. My only regret is that the reason I have finally got around to this build is because I am off of work, and will be listing it on hellbay soon (cause i need the money ). It has inspired me to go further however, and look at building a purpose built racing version. Anyways, here it is. -Jeff

Beautiful, but...dammit, that's an idea I have cooking, too! Just 3 days ago I put in an order with pargu2000 for a whole set of blue Optima parts, I have seconds and thirds of all the plastic stuff, so I figured I'd put together a second car. I sprung for the blue aluminum radio plate too. Did you get those from pargu2000 too? I find that blue a bit too dark, I'm hoping for a brighter shade.

No, these are the original parts, just had them anoed for this project. Most of the parts anodised well, but the steering blocks (cast pieces) came out a dark grey (not blue). Which is actually pretty nice in person. Sort of a hard anodised look. -Jeff

Yeah, I love those rims, they are very nice. But unfortunatelly I have no idea where they came from of who made them. I have had them for many years in a box . I seem to remember they were european? There are no markings on them either. -Jeff

Wow! That looks real nice. I hope the buyer keeps it and doesn't do something moronic like part it out.

I also hope this doesn't happen, as I have many hours in the car and would like it to remain a shelf piece or even vintage racer. Unfortunately this is a great possibillity as it has some rare parts, and would bring more parted. I just am not willing to do this myself. -Jeff

The blue looks nice. It really is a shame you have to sell it. Unless someone here buys it, it will probably get parted out. That is the real shame.

Incredible looking Optima. I'm sorry to hear you have to sell it and hope you at least get a good price for it.
Re: My Blue Optima project...
Well a Blue Optima just arrived in the mail, Thanks Jeff. It looks as good as the pictures I have been drooling over.
I plan on finishing this blue boy off. Anyone have any suggests? What type of tires, motor, etc?
For the body, I'm thinking a box art optima.
Joe

I've purchased some wheels from this eBay seller for my Turbo Optima. Prices are very reasonable. Check these out, should look fantastic with your blue frame.

These wheels are a little bit taller than the stock Turbo Optima wheels, and lower profile, so they give you a bit more ground clearance. They come in front & rear widths. I'll update this topic later tonight with some pics of a similar wheel set that I just received from this seller today. Send her a message asking for a set, her name is Liz. Very good communication & customer service.
