Very nice! I love the colour scheme. Makes me want to drink a Mountain Dew. (and I don't even like Mountain Dew)

Re: Raider score
Hey Tim... Exactly what color is that Raider of yours? I didn't mention it before, but the one I had as my first REAL RC car, I (well my dad) painted with pactra candy purple!!!

Re: Raider score
I'm not sure the exact colour, but it is definitely a dark shade of blue/purple. It's backed with silver, that's all I know for sure.losiXXXman wrote:Hey Tim... Re: Raider score
The raider was my first also. I still have the front tires and the optional wheels I bought back then. I just picked up a Raider off ebay a couple months ago for $10. It was listed as a radio shack car.
I can't wait to get the car restored back to what mine looked like BITD.
Really love that one there Vintage AE. Looks really sweet

Nice! I should be at Motor City for their first official race day. (Jan 8, I think) I'd be happy to throw in some loot for the parts.bdrmbully wrote:dude i got a hole raider minus shocks n tires i can donate you. just let me know next time your racing again

Re: Raider score
Strange thing, with Raiders.... they are supposedly much better than their Tamiya counterpart (the Hornet / Grasshopper), and yet, they never ever seem to have any value... have had a couple listed for a while now, for what I consider to be a cheap price.... and yet, no takers. Just finished another one today, with new body and full rebuild.... they have about as much value as a broken Falcon chassis.
Shame, really.... I think they could make a really nice (if basic) vintage racer..... nothing to adjust, nothing to go wrong!
Oh well....
Alex

Re: Raider score
Well... I said on the first page that I wouldn't mind owning one and here it is nearly 5 months later and I now own a Raider Pro.
I actually ended up winning two of them from the same eBay seller. Anyway, they came today and it really surprised me how beautiful the body is. Its now taken a spot as one of my favorites.
I had a hard time choosing which pictures I liked the best so choose your favorite. The intake vent on the left side is to cool the motor if you wanted which I thought was neat.
The buggy itself is pretty cool, and I feel they're under appreciated as well. It might be because they're sort of a middle child if you will. They're somewhere between entry level and race buggies. I suppose if thats the case then the same could be said for the Outrage.

Re: Raider score
Always liked the Raider. Turbo Raider even better. There was something about the mid engine layout that appealed to me. The Octi-Grab's are sweet on there, will look even sweeter if you letter them. I gotta thing for old Pro-line tires too.

Re: Raider score
I have a few raiders too what I want to know is where to get tires for them at is there another model/brand of buggy that uses the same size tires that I can sill find ?
Re: Raider score
I had to track some down for a set of Raider wheels that I bought for my Turbo Scorpion. Seller 'crunchy550' on eBay has sets of Proline tyres that work - he even states what diameter the tryre is for in his listing. Seller 'teamcrp'has some spiked CRP fronts that will work too.
Out of interest, my Raider rims were hard/brittle and cracked quickly. I suspect that they had been dyed (golden yellow) and the dye attached the plastic - my suspicion was based on 1. the colour was really uniform, 2. the plastic inside was white, 3. the colour came away when gluing the tyres and 4. I can only find green and white ones in photos/box art.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are the white/green Raider rims the same material as the other vintage Kyosho rims (Optima, Ultima etc)?
