low$ build entry

Its starting to take shape.
chassis was a narrow rc10- oval conversion type hacked up front to fit a losi bulkhead.
front arms knuckles, tower and camberlinks are off a blitzer beetle.
shocks are losi, and linkage is a mix of whatever I could find that fit.
steering bellcranks are worlds type with junior-2 posts.
so far the only new parts that I needed to use were the 4 bulkhead screws and 4 bearings for the steering.
The wheels are HPI, using bushings to space them out as the axles are for truck width wheels.
I'm using plastic bushings in the wheels in keeping with the low buck theme

i've gotten a little farther, completing the rear end. This is one of the most fun builds I've done in a long time.
Trans is obviously a 6-gear, but I have used 1 lxt long shaft, 1 short losi shaft, and "turned" the plastic outdrive down until it fit snugly in the ae part. I then drilled and pinned it so it doesn't slip. They are in pretty snug, will be interesting to see how it works., I might have to put springs inside the sliders to keep the outdrives in place.

The rear arms are customworks, spares I had in the box for my outlaw sprinter/rocket latemodel

arm mounts, bulkhead and shock tower are rc-10 GT.

Rear body mounts are unused extras that were on the trees from a tamiya, either the re-release beetle or the GTI-cup car.
Battery hold downs are unused a-arm halves also from tamiya.

Front body mount is a Traxxas rustler cross brace with more tamiya mounts.

The body is a used and ugly dahms. I managed to rig up the mounts to use the 4 holes that were already drilled.

Front wheels are narrowed blackfoot with proline rear buggy tires. not sure where the wheels came from but they were cut down prior to my finding them.
rear wheels are hpi with nice big masher-2k tires.

All that is left is electronics, and I've got some plans for those.

finished it up.
wound up putting a 4-40x 7/8" screw in to the outdrives to keep them from poping out, with 2 4-40 x3/16" button heads in place of the cross pin.

Speed controller is an MSC out of some tamiya vehicle. Lots of wires all over the place, would be mre if I could find where I put my old futaba RX units with the crazy long antenna wire. For the old-school factor I am using a classic magnum 2pd AM.

In keeping with the low budget theme the linkage wire for the MSC is actually an extra DT swiss spoke I had in my bike box from building up a wheel years ago . The threaded end fit the tamiya ball link perfectly.

It's too wet and cold outside to give it a proper running. It seems to work okay just running around the basement.
