I aquired a really nice MIP transmission for an RC10. The trans was mounted mid-motored style with a hyperdrive setup without a slipper clutch. I'm assuming for dirt oval. It seems to be pristine on the inside and out. If I use it, it will be on a modernized brushless lipo car used for dirt off-road. I've tried searching for information about this trans without much luck. So the questions are: 1. Is it any better to use this over a nice stealth or am I spinning my wheels(no pun intended!)? 2. Can any slipper clutch be fitted to it for off-road dirt use? 3. Are there any other brand of outdrives that will fit this? 4. What is the final ratio of this trans versus the 2.25 stealth?

Looks nice. I don't know much about them personally, but if no one comes up with a definitive answer(although I'm sure someone will)you can guesstimate the final drive ratio by seeing how many turns it takes the out-drives to turn the spur gear one time.

Well there is the MIP SL-100 as seen in picture. Seems to be pretty rare and I was very lucky to acquire this one which will be used on a car I am currently working on. I also have an extra direct drive adapter which you may still be looking for, give me a pm if you still need one.

Kinda stinks as this looks like a really nice transmission.
You might be able to modify a stealth slipper clutch or something similar to work. I remember purchasing an A&L slipper clutch for a Traxxas TRX-1 out of the clearance bin at a local shop and modifying it to work on this MIP trans.
I still have it, mounted in a Kyosho Ultima Pro.
The design of this trans was basically copied from the original Tamiya Sand Scorcher/Rough Rider, same basic gear layout. MIP just added their Diff (which was already an aftermarket upgrade for the Tamiya's). I have always found it kind of funny that when Associated updated/introduced the Stealth trans, it was basically a copy of the MIP, which was again a copy of the Tamiya. And Associated did this because they knew they worked better and were more efficient.
I'm going to try and test fit the b3 clutch to see if some slight modification could be done to make it work. Hopefully the shaft diameter is atleast close.
The Stealth was modeled after the MIP trans. Both should handle a brushless system fine. I would personally use a Stealth in a runner instead of an MIP due to the value of one vs the other. A decent Stealth you can pick up online for $40 and easily find parts for if you need them. Finding MIP parts is a bit more difficult.
if you can drill out the hub of the associated slipper plates to 5mm accurately, you can probably use a long stud in the top shaft instead of a screw, and stack the needed washers and springs and finish off with the appropriate nut. the only other thing you might need would be a 5mm spacer to help center the plates if the top shaft isn't long enough.
i took the trans from my kid's stampede apart. being as though they have a slipper and a 5mm topshaft, i wanted to see if it would work in the mip trans. if the topshaft was about a 1/4" longer on the gear side, i think it would work out perfect.
