I can probably answer that later tonight, I have the Tower Hobbies catalog from...1987?...that has an ad for the Gold Celebration chassis. I just can't remember if it included the 3 guard items...I believe it did, though.

Cool. I just picked up a brand new, never run Optima with all the gold items (except the nerf bars). It is missing a hand full of basic parts, but is 98% there. I think I will part it out and use some of them to finish my std. Optima shelf build. Then sell off the gold sets (motor guard set, chassis set, shock set, etc.) to supplement my hit and miss unemployment status  . -Jeff

the nerf bars came later. they were actually designed by team yokomo. they asked kyosho to add them to their optimas because the yokomo drivers were getting tired of hopping the optimas tires every time they came up to lap them.

that's the story as i understand it.........

You might consider completing the Gold chassis by buying a sideguard set from pargu2000, and have him anodize it gold. His price for the sideguards is VERY reasonable. Some of his other parts...whoa. Not so much! I think the motor guard he asks over $40 for. :?

Where is the "Front strap plate" part number 103 on Optima that is on top of the radio plate in front?

Sharp eyes. I don't see it either, and upon closer inspection, it appears that part of this blister-pack has been cut off (the left side where the front skidplate is). But heres's the weird thing: My original Optima that I'd upgraded with the Gold Celebration chassis back in the day was ALSO missing that piece--the barbell-shaped flat piece that holds down the upper chain-guide cover--but I later bought an Optima parts lot from a forum member that had a bunch of gold chassis parts in it, and it had this piece. Of course, I added it to my Zebra Optima.

I wonder if some gold chassis kits were sold without that piece? And what about that similarly-shaped piece that goes on the rear gearbox and is attached by the rear arm suspension pins?

The blister was not cut, just the header was cut off - parts were still sealed.

Something's weird, then, because I doubt Kyosho sold those extra pieces separately as gold add-ons...weren't these parts included in the Gold Celebration Chassis? And if not, why do some of us have these parts but not others?
