TRX-3 Build
Howdy,
Have enough extras to start another TRX3. There will be some cannibalising of my mostly complete TRX3 but this will be swapping out used parts and keep new ones new. Some hop-ups. Want to put a Lethal Weapon in it but will have to talk to Daryl. Probably be a black and white combo of parts. We'll see. All talk so far though. Any other suggestions, tips?
Have:
MIP CVDs
Trx1 rear tower
Fybrelyte upper deck
Trinity 17T speedgem
LRP IPC V3.1
JR Racing XR2
Lunsford Buckles
Gonna get:
LW trans?
A&L bellcrank
Thanks,
Mark
UPDATE: PICS SOON. PROGRESS MADE.
Talked with Daryl. I need to run a stealth diff (outdrives) if I wanna do the LW2 trans. This is what I've got done so far.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Never had a LW in a trx3 but it should be great. I've never been dissappointed with the Lethal Weapons I have used.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Hey,
Thanks. Anybody happen to know off the top of their head if AE T3 diff would work or is same dimensionally to re-re stealth for the LW transmission factor?

Re: TRX-3 Build
No, you'll need the 2.25 stealth parts. They are available thru associated and they are running a free shipping over $29 right now. You might find them cheaper elsewhere, but they are all in stock at Associated.
Diff rebuild has thrust washers, bolt, spring, T nut, cap, and drive washers. Just no diff balls. The ones shown are carbide, you can go with the cheaper ones but carbide is better for your runner.
Here is what you should need to finish the LW:

Re: TRX-3 Build
Heck yeah,
Thanks man. Don't have a mastery of AE parts and numbers yet. Just ordered that diff stuff, I figured "what's the big diff?". Now I gotta consolidate order w/Factoryworks. More to come.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Sweet! Keep us updated on that lethal weapon! Build pics would be great
Btw, if his instructions don't show the diff being built just use the worlds car manual

Re: TRX-3 Build
Howdy,
Placed the order for the LW. And some other stuff.
Daryl shipped my order today. Can't wait. pretty sure I need a one more bearing for the diff from AE though and I am not sure which one. It's not the thrust or the main gear bearing. Still gotta figure that one out.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Howdy,
So I got some stuff together and made some progress. Pretty neat how Daryl at A&L adapted the Stealth diff to fit the LW main gear and case with a main bearing adapter and the shims. The LW diff gear accepts 1/8" balls (btw). Here you go.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Howdy,
Continued......... Mounting holes with supplied template, lash up, and the Intruder Universal Long Nose fit with minimal trimming around the steering space and gear cover, and shortening the nose. Also the LW application with the TRX buggies requires a slightly longer bone than the stock tranny as the Stealth outdrives are a bit shorter.
The Traxxas forum needed some more action. I'm stoked about this thing. Corny, but I've wanted to put a LW in a TRX buggy since I was 15. Thanks for checking it out.

Re: TRX-3 Build
Looking great Mark! I have enough bits to start putting together a Traxxas but I'm having a hard time deciding which direction to go. The LW is on my list

Re: TRX-3 Build
I always liked that ad!
We started working on the designs in the spring of 89 took 13 months to get it all into production.
