Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm aware that I'm measuring off of a drawing

We are all trying to produce as accurate replica's as we can using the same methodology of photo analysis. I pointed out something relevant to the conversation and everyone can decide for themselves how they want to utilize that information. I have already congratulated both Niki and Jake and was one of the first to purchase the parts on Shapeways so it's not as if this is some type of competition with millions of dollars on the line. Hopefully, the forum member who owns one could share this information with us. I'm sure we would all appreciate that.

We are all just a bunch of hobbyist trying to make a replica of a car that we wanted as a kid :)
fredswain wrote:What's with your crap attitude towards us? You didn't do the work on that car anyways so don't act like a God. No one here certainly gives you any credit for it.

We've got some of the car modeled up. We've posted a few pictures along the way. Seeing this car done with the parts slowly being made available, why continue with it anymore? Our end goal was the same. To get a repro made that others could enjoy. Others did it first. I'm certainly not going to complain.

Why bash us for measuring a picture? Wasn't that car built off of pictures? If it was from direct measurement of the real car then that's awesome but trial and error sure implies it was off of pictures. I don't see why it's valid for one to do it but not others. We aren't criticizing. We are asking a question based on observation. You seem to have a problem with questions.

Very well said fredswain and jbmeyer13!

JESUS CHRIST *SIGH*

Onward guys. i don't want to miss a thing about this project OR yours.

There are very specific things that will be needed to build this car which we have a full diagram with parts numbers that will be provided to everyone. The idea was to design the car around readily available parts so anyone of you guys could build your own car.

I am currently babysitting my CNC machine as I type this as the production of the kits is underway. The best part is the car will be available through this forum to all members including those without BST access.

We have an idea of the initial production numbers and the cost to acquire the parts but it will be a few days before I post the conditions behind the sales. I am doing the machine work for the remaining parts needed to build this car. I can tell you that if you are looking to build a replica of Masami's car like I did, you may want to start hunting a pair of the Yokomo TH-1 hubs as those will not come with the kit. The kit was designed to use 2.2 wheels that are currently available to the masses for those who want to run their cars. All of the details will be provided to you guys in the next couple days.

The bell cranks on this car used the 10T hardware which is very difficult to come by. As I built the car, we ran into a couple problems which still exist with getting the 10T bellcranks bolts to tighten properly in the CF chassis. The solution was to make an optional ball bearing steering assembly that used the same geometry and also fixed the mounting problems associated with the 10T hardware.
For those interested, the 10T tube, spring and nut for the servo saver are part# 9158. By dumb luck I walked into a local hobby shop last week and went through their box of old parts and found one.
Don't forget the most critical part of the 10T hardware, the screws with 8-32 threads on the bottom to lock to the chassis and a 4-40 top for the bellcranks to slide onto. I was lucky enough to have a set, and I looked for months with nothing showing up.

Can maybe try the Duratrax DTX8893 shaft set for the Nitro Evader ST. They're getting harder to find too but still in stock some places.

No takers here, but ... since everyone is focused on this, I figured if I vote for myself on the build of the month thread, I'll win by a vote

Keep up the good distraction!

I'll have to be on board for a kit though, hard to resist.

I'd love to do the '89 car but after seeing how good Niki is I'm not sure that I'm worthy!

Patience is the key for sure. We worked tirelessly for 10 months on this, no joke. That doesn't include the many months I had already devoted to it before asking Niki to help.

There are many aspects about the '89 car that would be much easier to do than the '91 car. You started with the hardest one! It's an absolutely beautiful job you've done.

Maybe it's time to do a '91 Stealth Truck!

Stay tuned sir, during our first mock up, we stumbled across a small error we made but it just happens the chassis may be perfect so something else.....

I love Masami's 89 car possibly because it was so different to everything else that ran at that time. Ofcourse so was the 91 car.
I'd love to put either or both on the race track here in Australia come vintage race days.

I couldn't shelf this car without some dirt on it.
