Shodog's Fusion Speed MIP SP-2 RC10

Recently I was able to procure a Fusion Speed Carbon Fiber tub chassis



My plan is to switch out the graphite chassis on my MIP SP-2 equipped chassis.



I always wanted a nicer condition chassis than the used one I used on this buggy. I ended up getting a new graphite chassis but was reluctant to cut new holes in such a beautiful pristine chassis.

This fusion speed tub is in very nice condition but not perfect. Therefore I don't mind drilling some new holes in the chassis. I made templates from the old chassis.

Drilled the new steering linkage holes



And countersunk the screw holes



It all fits. Unlike the graphite chassis I will need to use the belt tensioner on this buggy




I plan to use this alternately painted Jay Halsey body painted by squarehead designs on a project.



Can someone point me in the direction of some detailed pics of the white car. I would like to see the various sticker placements.

Thanks for the link. Doug produced a sticker sheet for this body and I wanted to get the decal placement right

Next task are the wheels. These Tecnacrafts have sat in a box with the rear tires glued to them for more than 10 years. I want to use these as they have a pin to drive the front wheels.



These wheels were looking less than stellar. Despite soaking for hours in Acetone one of the tires had to be cut and torn off the rim. Acetone eventually removed the boatload of Superglue residue. With some 0000 steel wool to sand off the oxidization and Mother's mag wheel polish they turned out really nice.

Wow Jim, you're really taking it to the next level with that carbon tub My SP-2 kit has been sitting with loads of NIP Mip parts for years as I'm still undecided about which chassis to use. It was supposed to use a custom alloy chassis made my Mikedealer but he never shipped it to me despite hundreds of reminders. That left me really angry with that MIP parts box. I also thought about using my FusionSpeed tub but I really can't bring myself to modify it as it is in pristine condition. Won't you have to cut the sides on the front of the tub to allow for full steering? The Tecna's will round it up nicely!

I have second SP-2 kit slated for an SRB project. It's the reason why this buggy was partially disassembled as I was experimenting with the built parts rather than tearing into bags only to find it doesn't work. I hear ya on the Mikedealer thing I too wanted a chassis but could never get one out of him. I don't know if I'll need to cut the sides just yet but spears to have quite a bit of steering throw.

I've made more progress. Put the rest of the rear end together and put the wheels on it. I also used some HG aluminum shock mounts and a set of Tecnacraft detachable wing mounts.



I tried out a basher body on the chassis to see how the protec looks and I'm pleased so I'm going to go ahead and cut the squarehead body out to fit this buggy.

I decided against the alternate Halsey body in favor of one from Andy's. I'm really taking my time cutting out the body as I want it to fit like a glove.
