Wheel/Tire Compatability...

I came across these JCONCEPTS HAZARD #3359 RC10 rear wheels, figuring, from what I read, they would be perfect for a build. I wanted to use the Ae Classic #6815 Champion rear tires on them. I get them, and see that the rim is a bit off for the tires. The rim has a lip(?) and the tire was a wide bead. I know that JC made some tires that are, probably, made just for this wheel.

My Thoughts...

To get a spot on fit, remove the lip on the wheel or trim the tire bead?

1) Easy for me to remove the wheel lip.

2) Time consuming chore to trim the tire bead... not fun>

What's you guys thoughts?

Well, since it's apparent that your not going for an authentic RC10 restoration look, I'd say go ahead and trim the lip. However, with that extra wide bead on the tire, won't that cause the bead to protrude past the edge of the wheel (assuming the inner edge of the bead is properly seated against the inner lip on the wheel) and, if so, won't that look rather strange?

Cut both the lip AND the tire bead (you can flip the tire inside out to make this easier )

I looked in the Classic manual and see how the #6800 stock rear wheels work with these tires. I started out with thoughts of getting the OEM wheels, then saw the JC's. I don't know... these wheels really don't support the tires like they should, or at least like I was figuring.

For now, I'm going to toss them in a box, and order some RC10 wheels.

you would have to glue them either way, so I'd just trim the inner wheel beads and glue them. Or as you are doing, just run the jellybeans.
