Factory Works C2 Carbon Fiber

Post by NomadRacer »

I got this kit from Jeff the other day and have been working on a plan of how to spend a mass amount of dollars building it.

You could start this build anywhere you like, I opt for the bulkhead. The instructions that come with the kit tell you to do some cutting so the trailing arms clear. Being a bit anal retentive, I make my cut an arc, also making a triangular cut at the top. The triangular cut serves no real advantage other than look cool.

Some careful Dremel work. Patience pays off here, get as close to your guidelines as you dare and finish up by hand.

Once your happy with your work, go for the black dye bath!

Man, I wanna build one of these myself. Looks like your off to a great start. Dumb question; Can you order the chassis plate with the front kick-up or are they flat? What do you have planned for the front nose plate? Is this a runner?

The kickup material is crazy expensive so we only do the bolt on style currently.

We do sell a C2.1 version that adds a top brace and swoopy chassis, but it is a much more modern looking version as well.

I'm going to be using a black Worlds re-re nose plate. It'll be a runner, shelf quality before it touches the ground.

Transmission is complete. I've used the newer 6565 case (dyed black) with Avid brand bearings, carbide diff balls, and ceramic thrust balls. A 9601 top shaft with CPD aluminum alloy out drives make the trans smooth as snot. You can see, my own custom machined aluminum alloy trans spacers and top shaft cap complete the package. Next... get busy with the trailing arms. Waiting on some 1/4 x 3/8 flanged bearings, hopefully tomorrow or Saturday they will be here.

Heck Yea! I got this nice carbon fiber trans to bulkhead extended brace from @GoMachV this morning, along with some other "cool things". Thanks Jeff!

Steady getting the trailing arm parts ready to mount. The 1/4 x 3/8 x 1/8" ball bearings also came today.
I'm doing a bit of "tricking out" on the inner and outer aluminum posts.

After cleaning up the inner and outer posts I figured, why not cut some grooves in them 8)

Received some more cool stuff for the build today...

I won't be needing the retro turnbuckles for the rear, the hinge pins neither. Maybe I can trade them off for something later on.
